ALEX HONNOLD ROCKS!!!

Many people aren't sure 'what the point is' when it comes to riding a motorcycle either.

i thought this was pretty crazy, but my uncle after watching the live video downplayed it, the skyscraper has crazy ledges that he can use for perfect footing and resting as needed everywhere,

so yea i kinda agree, this was not as epic as his free climb of el capitan?

but still crazy as fooq

wow. holy :jaded ... @ 1:50 I got jumpy... could barely watch. A moment of balancing there.

It is pretty amazing that he could stand on top of the building on what looks like a small perch and wave his arms.
A gust of wind and over he would go.
The guy has guts.

A unique talent.. i did enjoy watching the documentary about his Yosemite free solo climb

Amazing feats of endurance, but pretty repetitious type of climbing, not at all like climbing on rocks.

Also I think this was previously done like 10+ years ago? Before we had social media hype documentaries, but I maybe wrong and mistaken for something else

French climber Alain Robert was the first to climb the 101-story building in 2004 using safety gear.
Free climbing, whether it's on rock or a building, is an entirely different and extreme "mental" ballgame!
Kudos to Alex and I'm sure it's more of a personal accomplishment to him than notoriety.

in their younger days, my dude and his brother were avid climbers. from everything i was exposed to, it was a full on ‘conquest’ thing. zero other consideration. media will make of it what they will, but i doubt he considered it for more than a nanosecond. distraction is the very last thing a climber needs.

Free soloing is the term you are looking for - when a climber does so with no protection. Free climbing is when a climber uses only their body for upward movement, but still has protection.

Correct, free soloing is what I meant. I climbed off and on for about 15 years, mostly in Yosemite but never any free soloing. Ha, ha, does "free soloing"
over on the boulders at Camp 4 count? Oh wait, never mind, a pad was often used. Climbing for me was what I called my Three F's ( F³ ), The Freedom, The Fun, The Focus. It applies to moto riding too!

Rumor is he was paid 6 figures. So $$, though not that much.
Makes more sense as to why he’d go through all the training, planning, preparation and execution.
I imagine he needed a permit from the government that included some sort of hold harmless agreement in case he fell.
And imagine having to placate his parents who were undoubtedly horrified at the idea.

I doubt he needed training, serious climbers are climbing constantly.
He's done climbs that would have concerned his parents far more than this climb. By now it would just be an event that he's doing rather than something that is putting him in serious danger.
