Alta motors ceases operations

Yo 2Stroke... the quiet thing is something you take for granted shortly, though usually there is an ICE bike in my rides.

I rode last weekend with a bunch of Alta folks (five Altas) and yeah, the noise of only tires and chains is dirrerent from KTMJack... though i still love thesmell of two stroke.

What will the future hold?

I dread going on an electric bike group ride because everyone will be fighting for a charge =P

It's already tough competing with all the cars to get to a charger.

I read on the internets that Elon Musk has bought everything, and, Cycle Gear, and is making riding a requirement of employment.

I think I saw that somewhere. Infomiswords maybe? Maybe it was in my dream last night. Same thing.

Mentioned publicly by at least one well known FMX'er that had his bikes taken and one well known moto tester that they've contacted to arrange pick up of his bikes, so not really in the same realm of speculation and/or disinformation. If Alta doesn't like people talking about it, they're welcome to make a statement, but keep in mind they haven't actually said anything. Someone leaked to Asphalt & Rubber and all the other articles are piggybacking off of that article, so if you're taking the "wait and see from the source" approach, you really shouldn't even believe they've ceased operations and looking at the website would seem to confirm that everything is running perfectly smooth over there. Should probably lock this thread then?

nah, the speculation is too much fun to close down the thread. There is usually a grain a truth in the stuff that floats around. And the drama sure isn't over yet.

Thanks for your input. There is all sorts of crazy good stuff here...
https://altaownersforum.com/threads/bad-news.553/
and some stuff, not so crazy.

Yeah, I'm sure they're doing fine and it's all just internet rabble rabble.

My understanding is that anyone with parts on order from Alta are getting screwed because of how Alta has screwed their suppliers/vendors, and anyone that needs parts in the near future will continued to be screwed. Can anyone that has ordered parts within the last two months confirm whether or not they've arrived?

Yeah getting parts must by a mystery with Alta. They are suppose to provide parts and warranty for like 10 years or something. At least when Victory closed shop the parent company is still in business. I can still get parts for my Empulse.

By this time I assume almost all Alta employees have found other employment, doubt there is much of a company left.

It's kinda cool to see that video.

Fifty hours is two top ends on a two stroke, or a valve job on a ktm. What an asshole. :laughing

Maybe he raced a RS125 or something that would require a top end at 25 hours.

Still a better orphan motorcycle than a Cannondale.

The spare parts order I placed has been delivered. I think I am good for a few years.
I do have two years and 3500 miles on MX019.

Did you order spare spark plugs =p
