So awesome. Saw an Alta this weekend at Carnegie. Looked like a beast on the hill climbs!

Love it, Butch! :thumbup Can't wait to see you rip around on that thing. :party

Be sure to swing by the van and say hi next time! Our primary purpose on these weekend excursions is mileage accumulation, but we're always down to chat with fellow riders/BARFers :ride

We were out there with 2 Redshifts + a rag tag gang of other dinosaur burning bikes :teeth

How long is the charge time. And I'm in need of a hollister trip. Will contact soon

Were you able to get 40 miles with just one charge?

Yes. 43.7, actually. Though I was trying to ride it to fully battery depletion, which I did. It goes into limp mode when the charge is really low.

More riding and documentation to be done. i think charge time is 2.5 hrs on 220V.

It is such a cheater bike. I have never enjoyed Troll Trail so much. Big smile on my face.

YMMV... I am a 140 pound shrimp. Prawn, maybe.

The most common question is... What is the range? I rode in a "race" at a casual pace for almost two hours without using up the battery.

The French guys, running at podium finish speed, ran out of battery in about an hour, I think. They, like most folks, are bigger than I.

There are a lot of varibles to the range question. I suspect the Alta has as much range as most riders. I would like more, but I like the bike for such a bunch of reasons that I will work around the range issue. Part of that is overhauling my TM two stroke...

This is awesome, thanks for posting up the real world results, Butch!

I had a dream I bought one of these things :laughing i think if the price came down 3k I'd be a buyer for sure

I rode my KTM back to back with the Alta yesterday.

Though the Shiftless bike prolly weighs at least 30 more pounds, it doesn't feel any heavier. The orange one has such more raw power.

Uh, the Alta seems much more pleasurable to ride. More testing tomorrow.

Cool,
I like the side by side comparison. Looking forward to more of your thoughts between the two of them.

Sally, the loving wife, just observed that... I want to ride the Alta EVERY DAY!

I just rode today with my brother at Metcalf. He is on the 2000 KTM 250 MXC, an awesome motorcycle, me, the Alta. We switch, several times.

Gosh, we both like the Alta. Cheater bike!

Argh, I'm dying to get mine back from Washington and head out there with you! So glad you're getting all this riding in Butch, especially while the dirt is primo.

Butch, thanks again for letting me ride your Redshift last week. My KDX is one of the easiest to ride bikes I've ever experienced. 5 minutes on your Alta and I was as comfortable as I've ever been on the KDX. Very impressive machine and super easy to ride. Love it! :love

the Metcalf rangers used an Alta Redshift SM (street legal motard version) on Saturday at Vasona County Park for the festival of lights thing... Ryan said they rode it around, albiet largely at walking speed, for ten (10) hours without fully depleating the charge.

What is the range? Depends!
