Android phone apps

I really liked the Dolphin browser interface more than the stock browser. But it was kinda wonky in some ways. Trying to play embedded videos in sites (even mobile ones) always caused Dolphin to crash. Which was odd, since I've heard nothing but good reviews about it.

Maybe I'll try the other browser that someone mentioned earlier.

There's also the whole rabbit hole of rooting. I rooted my phone. It seemed to perform better for a little while, but now it doesn't really seem to work particularly better or faster than when I first got it even though I froze a bunch of the pre-loaded bloatware. Of course, I also got a Samsung Exhibit instead of opting for the next step up. My phone is so unbeloved, the root community hasn't even bothered to develop new ROMs for it.

Sad me. :(

I like Skyfire more than Dolphin browser, but I think the standard browser on ICS is pretty damn good.

Go Launcher - Customize the crap out of your launcher screen(desktop)
Desktop Visualizer - More customizing

Go SMS - improved SMS
Go Weather - awesome weather app

Kakaotalk - group chat with your friends

Pandora - Streaming music
Dolphin Browser - Nice browser, though I also use the stock one that came with my Sammy.
Screen Off and Lock - quickly turn your screen off from a widget or gesture, no need to use any hard or side buttons. I've picked up the habit of shutting off my screen as soon as I'm done using the phone or before putting it in my pocket. Saves battery big time.
Quick Settings - Access a custom set of settings right from notification bar
Google Maps - Maps and Nav
ES File Explorer - Better than the stock file manager
Cal Widget - Get your google calendar agenda as a launcher widget

Google Maps
HIIT - exercise tool, high intensity interval training
Google Voice -- if you're in an area that has no reception but a decent WiFi, you can use google voice to make phone calls, sent text messages (free, without roaming charges)
PDAnet -- allows you to use your mobile network as an internet connection on your laptop/pc
Gmail
Instant Heart Rate
Weather Bug
Google Sky Map
Pandora
ES File Explorer
AK Notepad
Citrix Receiver
Flashlight
Flixter
History Eraser
Nutrition Facts
eBuddy
Netflix

CamScanner

Camscanner is awesome, especially for anyone that has to do expense reports, or track business expenses. Combined with Google Drive, really helps reduce paper clutter.

Lots of other good ones already mentioned, so won't repeat those..

IP Cam viewer is a great one if you have one or more IP cameras. Memorizes logins, multi-cam views, controls PTZ, can even record.

Touch timer. For some reason, no timer function included on my phone.

Fooducate - reads barcodes of food items and offers nutrition info, and better alternatives.

What does that do?

Turns on the camera flash LED so you can see in the dark.

Plus it has some other blink settings and you can turn the phone screen into a flashing red/blue screen simulating a police light when you need to pass traffic.

LOL...has anyone actually done this?:p

Speaking of battery life. A big plus over crapple is that you can carry a spare battery. Get one from Amazon for 10-15 bucks

Motorola Triumph and have no idea what OS. Is there a way to find out?

Android 2.2™ Platform is what is on the website, is this the OS?

I have this phone as well.
read this site: http://androidforums.com/triumph-all-things-root/

two things i recommend :
rooting: read the site, there are lots of options
fixing gps : http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...a-triumphs-slow-gps-updating-gps-library.html

You don't have to put a new rom on it, but it does seem to be a bit faster.
roms : g60, miui, cm7-tg,bRom, bKernel

the g60 style is built off cm7-tg and has been one of the longest developed cm7 version. miui is pretty cool, it tries to run like an iphone.

also, buy a cheap phone case off amazon, they're pretty much the same and get a screen protector.

Before I start modding my phone is there a chance I could completely fuck it up? I'm not that tech savy.

Leave it unrooted/unmodded for now. Load some useful apps, play with it, enjoy and worry about rooting it maybe later.

PS: Have you installed the SpeedTest app yet? What are your Virgin Mobile network up/download speed results? Remember to turn off Wifi for this test and turn on again after.
