Any (4-wheel) Overland types in here?

Was supposed to go camping with veefereefer this past weekend but ended up staying home because I was closing on a house (needed internet). I amused myself by picking up a Jackery Explorer 500 using my Amazon points to see how long I can power my fridge/freezer on it.

So, how long did it power your fridge?

No idea. I plugged in the fridge yesterday morning, Jackery was at 100% and pulling power from my truck. Had it running all day yesterday, parked the truck at 2100 last night and it was still reading 100%. Woke up this morning at 0725, 100%, fridge was reading 0F/40F. Went to work, walked out to the truck at 1100, fridge was shut off and the DC output was off on the Jackery, and the Jackery was reading 9% (still pulling power from the truck). Plugged the fridge to shore power and it was still cold so it wasn't out for more than 30m or so.

I don't know if the Jackery display is messing with me but it was reading 100% all the way through until lunch today which I thought was suspect. On the plus side, it hasn't drained the dual purpose battery on the truck yet so... :shrug

Have you messed with your Jackery 1000 at all?

With not really going anywhere in months my bank account has commas in it so I added a subwoofer. Wow what a difference! I'm back to taking the long way home.

Where did you put it?

Nice headache rack, who makes it?

JL Audio fits perfectly behind the rear seat. Amp under the front seat. Kicker upgrade in the doors and suburu tweets. Rack is a Rhino with retractable lighting.

Oh yea you posted that before. I’m just getting old and forgetful. I always loved that timeless look of a truck with a headache rack.

I need to do something about my audio but I feel like it’s a waste when the dog is with me half the time. And I’m listening to audiobooks 90% of the time.

I've watched a couple videos from that guy... I think I've only watched one 'til the end. His subjects are interesting. But his delivery is too dry.

Guess I’m weird, I thought he was a bit long winded so I sped it up to 1.5x speed but aside from that found it interesting and easy enough to digest.

Too bad you can't get the "7" speed manual tranny with V6 engine in the new Ferd.

Crawler, Granny, Compound Low transmissions have been around for sometime,
example: The SM420 ('47 to '69 in GM 1/2T, 3/4T, 1T trucks) have a "crawler" first gear of 7.05:1. The later SM465 has a ration of 6.55:1.

The Ferd has a "crawler" ratio of 6.58:1. The top two gears in the "7" speed manual box are actually overdrive ratios (0.776:1 and 0.646:1) strictly to improve corporate gas mileage.

I'm seriously going to say this over and over again because so many Americans are way too programmed with the notion that they can't have a four-cylinder engine in a vehicle unless it's a cheap commuter...

YOU DON'T NEED THE GODDAMN 2.7TT ENGINE IN THE BRONCO.

The ONLY reason Ford added it was to garner sales from the Luddites in this country that refuse to let go of their preconceived notions and old wives tales.

I challenge any of you to objectively test the 2.3 before deciding that you for some reason need over 300 HP and 400 lb-ft torque in something like a Bronco. The 2.7TT engine was originally designed for F-150...for a reason.

I like the v6 pentastar

I’m leaning towards a base model four door hard top manual transmission from either ford or jeep

I have the Hemi V8 in my Jeep. The only reason I got it was because that the time it was the only way to get the drive train and differential.

I recently was able to rent my identical car (GJC) with the V6 Pentastar, I liked that motor much better.

Now, I don't know what the drive train was on that jeep compared to mine. Mine is a 4WD. By that I mean it's ALWAYS in 4WD. A lot of systems are 2WD "except when the need it". This is full time 4WD. I have no doubts that my drivetrain is a component of the generally crummy.

But I will also say, that the V6 revved faster, and felt better than my V8.

Mind, I drive in "Eco" mode, which changes the behavior. There is certainly giddy up in my motor if I stomp on it, or change modes to move the shift points. But I liked my day with the V6.

jeep just teased a 392 wrangler.

anyone wanna head up saddleback today? im headed to the look out then probably down the back to la porte

The look out at saddleback was closed due to covid :wtf absolutely ridiculous. Didn't continue to poker flat due to fuel concerns. I left Roseville with a little over half a tank thinking I would refuel in Downieville to top off. Wrong. Gas station was out of service so I just went up to the look out and back down. Almost 75% of the town was out of business. Really sad.
