Any updates on Joy Higa's and Brant Wiwi's condition from race crashes?

Heal up Joy. We were watcching the race from t1 but missed all the carnage, just saw a bunch of bikes down. That sucks. I ended up crashing in 750 prod, almost highsided in 7 ran off hit a ditch and then started tumbling. Ended up pn the other side of the fence, don't know if I went theough it or over it, but was real lucky to walk away with a couple of bruises. Hope all the crashers heal up quick.

Sorry to hear about this Joy, I wish you a speedy recovery :thumbup

And sorry to hear about Brant too, and everyone else. I hope you all heal up fast

Congrats Berto - fucker - why you have to go win a race when I wasn't spectating :cry you better do it again at the next round :p BTW - Francesco is wondering where you are, he was asking me on Saturday. I told him there's no chance you are going somewhere else for your hair cuts cos last time I saw you at Sears you were looking a tad scruffy :rofl

Glad your ok Joy ! I seen 2 bikes smash into k wall then you sprauled out across the k wall then another bike came flying acrossed the track on its side and ran me and one of the cycle head guys off into the dirt barely missing us ! It was crazy . Good job Berto:thumbup:thumbup:thumbup . Best wishes to Brant on a speedy recovery.

Safety committee review, please. The wall is a problem... Airfence, etc? maybe paving the dirt run-off? If you go shooting off w/ no brakes there you are going to have trouble riding it out on the dirt/gravel access road.

Fuck. That tire wall has hurt a few AFM racers. Thill could have moved the skid pad back fifty feet and the injuries would have pretty much disappeared.

Joy -- glad you're okay. Heal up soon!

I am happy to hear you are ok Joy. Here is what the start looked like:

Hope you heal up fast, Joy. Sorry you got involved in all that. Love watching you race.
Also best wishes to all that were injured this weekend.

Everyone get well soon!

Those start pictures don't look bad.

I agree that the tire wall in 10 sucks. Brant did not hit the tire wall. He went off track and got launched off the bike. Flew for a very long distance and got slammed into the ground. Its great to hear that hes going to be okay.

Please do. All I remember is doing a stoppie while hitting a bike on its side that slid over from the right at a good clip and then seeing a bike (not mine) land on top of me while I was tumbling around. I assume I went over the bars. Would like to see what went down.

Hope that Brant heals up fast too.

Joy glad you are banged up but not broken. It's much better!

hey joy! i'm glad to hear it's not bad. i hope everyone else was as fortunate as you were. you're a damned tough cookie, lady. :thumbup

FWIW, brant did NOT hit the tire wall. in fact, he was to rider-right of that t10 run-off road thingo too...he launched himself from the graded area to the far right hand side.

Joy, glad your OK! That whole thing was damn scary. Look forward to seeing you back soon.

Brant, heal up quickly, glad to see your keeping your sense of humor though.

Cheers,
Rich

Brant exited the track between T9/ T10. Corey/ Waffles said it was a stuck quick turn throttle. As I was dropping into T10, he was about 20 feet above and to the right of me on the hill, accelerating about 15 degrees away from T10. He was moving...dissapeared on the backside of the T10 hill (on the right) and apperently hit a gully.

That guy is every bit as tough as Joy. He's a freaking soldier too.

I seen the red flag and went over to the drifting area and seen the medics working loading Brant onto the stretcher in the weeds just about 40 feet off wall and forever from the track. I assumed right away it was mechanical or he had got runoff track early into 10 as it appeard from his location that he hadn't attempted to turn. we walked the track saturday night and seen the trail where he actually went off and said to each other " nope that couldn't have been where he went off , how could anybody go off there ? " . Well he had gone off there after hearing Berto's story and another from a friend who was right behind him. We need brants story but from what I heard the throttle housing slipped on the bar and the fat part of housing was jammed between brake lever and would not allow brake lever to close along with a possible stuck throttle . Just a rumor. Either way what a ride he went on, unimaginable . My buddy that told me the story said he was watching Brant and saying to himself " bail out man ,bail out !!! " and then he looked back and seen a huge cloud of dust as he was exiting 10. Best whishes Brant !

I actually ended up with a few stills of the first part of the pile up. I felt it was a little graphic (to me anyway). :wow

I am so glad to hear that everyone is ok and especially you Joy.

I have not met you but seeing the crash first hand left me feeling ill. :|

I hope you all heal up quickly. :thumbup
