Asshat Kamikaze assasination attempts fail, twice!

In general the closer you are to 9, 35 and Alices, the smoother the road and the later in the day until about 4:00pm or so the higher the risk. Less well known roads, while not free of hazard, at least give you the chance to be punted off the mortal coil by an F250 instead of an R6.

As for the DICKS w/ FB or whatever, I imagine that is Dick's Towing with a Flatbed Towtruck or something to that effect. -jrace beat me to it..

While there were all sorts of stupid things happening I was also suprised and delighted by a couple things, one being a big Kawi C14 in full attack mode, which made me smile and another being a white chick on some sort of battered old track rat who was smooth, seamless and flowing with good lines. Lots of wobblers, lots of scary rather fucked lines and highly questionable or just bad and scary technique but once in a while you see some nice riding in places that you don't expect. Good stuff. Cool cars ranging from 50's Caddies to new Lotuses and various things in between. One of the cooler looking bikes was some little 50cc looking motard that looked like it must be about telepathic in response on up to massive Goldwings and Rockets and much of the universe in between. An incredibly beautiful and rich environment, so cool in so many ways but....

You are a smart, experienced rider, so it seems you would know better to ride these roads on the weekends, especially the first nice one in a while. Enjoyed your stories though. I have avoided 35 and 9 for about ten years now because of these guys.

That would make 2 of us with that thought pattern, that have lived to see more days! :thumbup

well I was contemplating if I should go up the hill or not.. crash on the front side.. dont know about the riders injuries.. but it looked like a 2000 r6..* went to the back side and was going to go down to boldercreek to get a relaxing drink; when I got down to 35ph left turn. what do I see on my lane comming out of a blind turn.. a douche on a big bad yellow r1.* If you are reading you know who you are.. A second earlier I would have went face on. I care not to mention what speed I was traveling but it was a bit below my normal pace..I rode down the back to settle my nerves and headed back to 4 corners.. I went up and asked him what the hell. His excuse was he blew the DY because* riders from the other end was tapping their helmets.. and he looked back in a blind turn..** He seem cool but stupid for not learning from his mistake.. I told him that if he did not know the road he should slow down.. He tried to explain his error again;* from other riders tapping helmet.. again stupid reason to blow the DY.* seemed like a bad case of target fixiation.. Yes this happened to me twice on 9..* yes it was on a weekend.* and yes they were both in front of their group..* Possible trying to show off to their friends how fast they can ride without dying.. If I were in my truck.. the accident would have been unavoidable, it was that close.* he would have probably died.Thanx for ruining my mojo..* I decided to go home after that..* what a stupid day full of morons..* I should have rode my MTB.PS the time when 9 is ok to ride is on the weekdays..* or wait till mid summer when nature takes it course and get rid of certain peoples bike.
I heard that conversation...I won't say what I was thinking about his reply..Probably don't need to.:|

I saw firetrucks rolling around Skyline a few times today. When does lemming season trail off again?

cruised skyline from 92>kings moutain rd>84>101 about 1ish and saw few vehicles on 35 and KMR, got to run my pace.
went 101>84>35>92 about 6ish and once again saw little traffic on either 84 or skyline and was free to ride how I felt, often I was the only vehicle on the road.

You should have let him know on the spot. Sharing is caring. ;-)
I know. I was a bit dumbstruck I guess. Besides, I have givin so many pieces of my mind over the years, I'm affraid there is'nt much left to give..Gotta keep some for organ function.:laughing

did I sit next to you?

but really. I was like:wtf. I cant even beleive he used such an excuse.

I did not want to lecture him or teach/him how to ride but to stay in his lane and hurt himself is all I would like.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't me, but does your Miata have a black #17 on the side?

As for the usual shenanagins on the hill, I tend to avoid most of them by not being up there until 4pm :) Also good timing for nice sunset pictures.:thumbup

Top-notch rant. :thumbup

Group ride comes down the hill, these are often scary, specially midpack where guys who are not good enough to run at the front and not smart enough to run in the back often struggle too hard to keep up.

Favorite line.

That's why I quit riding over there in the late 70's/early 80's. Too many :squids As mentioned luckily by mid-summer they are all fixing broken bikes or broken bodies. Most of the time, I stick to Redwood Rd. & surrounding roads, Mines Rd., etc. Enough road to have fun without much traffic...FWIW :thumbup

Like budbandit, I now chose to take to the hills in a slow ass 4 banger drop top.

Too much stupidity for me to want to take my wife into the battle zone on the back of my bike.

That was a great frakking story!

I saw about 25 guys gassing up at a gas station yesterday, revving the snot out of their bikes, no bikes older than 2006 models, and wondered where they were going....

I would guess that at least one of them was getting ready for some off road woods and ditch exploration.
