Asshat Kamikaze assasination attempts fail, twice!

I've noticed that when the weather is colder, not necessarily rainy/wet but just colder there's not nearly as many riders out and about on 35/84 etc. Yesterday was a clusterfuck and I couldn't wait to leave.

Friend of mine came across the aftermath of an apparent DY incident on 9 near Four Corners around 4:15pm Sunday. The culprit was a Harley. The rider didn't make it.

Wow. I was passing by 4-corners just a little before that. Glad I missed it. :(

The Pumpkin Patch, or Punkin Patch, is the parking lot at 9 & 35, think that was a Gary J original. Thanks for the kind words.

Where the hell is the "pumpkin patch"?

All I know is Old Santa Cruz, Summit, Bear Creek, Pagemill and other roads were quiet on Sunday. Had a little pucker moment seeing two (2!) CHP cruisers on Summit. Is that a highway now?

As always, primo BB rantage brings a smile to my face.

Ah...I've always seen it called '4-corners' in my eternal....5 years in the Bay Area. :laughing

What time was that?? I got there around noon-ish and it was literally twice as crowded as what's in your pics.

That was about 11ish. Amazing that no one crashed into each other but you are 100% correct. It was a HUGE CLUSTER FUCK.

I watched a full sized Harley roll out while blasting opera. I thought that was funny.

Oh yea the best thing I saw this weekend was a bunch of racers hauling ass up the backside of 9 towards 35 and said to myself "wow they are going super fast" then I saw the police car hauling ass to catch them.

And you wonder why we hammer 9 and 35 every chance we get......

Jesus. I was on 35 that day going from Alices to 4 Corners and was behind a Blue Corvette license plate 02Z0SIX making some unbelievably dumb passes. Not safe at all. He almost came together with a big Dodge Ram 2500 pulling a trailer. Guy in the corvette was trying to keep in touch with a White S2000. I made a point of memorizing his license plate because I thought I might need to report it if he did a hit and run.

Then I stopped at 4 corners for a little bit, and while I was there I saw some cops and fire trucks scrambling out in a hurry. Might have been for this incident.

I felt helpless following that idiot. The guy in front in the white car was a little more carefull, I think he only started his passes during a dashed line, but Blue vette dummy was in the opposite lane a long time and way after the dashed part ended, close to the next corner. I remember being behind him on a decent straight as we were all behind a slower car and being suprised that they didn't try to pass there. Then a few seconds later a couple of bikes come around in the other direction. I was like 'those guys don't know how lucky they just got.'

No it was a red corvette and I have the license plate memorized... I was lucky enough to follow it down 9 after it turned around before Alices and headed the other way... Unfortunately for me I caught up to it, tow truck driver was nice enough to wave me by now...I debated given the passengers the good ol' 2 finger salute but I figured since I didnt see the accident I shouldn't assume blame..

I talked with a guy today in his late 40s in san anselmo (marin) who decided I'd be interested in knowing he was a part of the 100 mph club of 9/35/etc. Weird guy. That's about as relevant as I can get with this thread, as I don't really dig 9 and all that.

He made it a point to also schpeel off some random other things about AMA championships, and said he's the dude on the 1989 bikes who passes guys like me on later model sportbikes.

It was funny 'cause he didn't smile or anything. He just rattled a bunch of stuff off and wanted to know about my friend's govt subsidized housing and how he could get in on it. Heehee!

did I sit next to you?

but really. I was like:wtf. I cant even beleive he used such an excuse.

I did not want to lecture him or teach/him how to ride but to stay in his lane and hurt himself is all I would like.
Yeah, That was me.
What I was thinking probably would have started a..Party:party
I could'nt believe the dudes attitude about it:wtf
J-

Group ride comes down the hill, these are often scary, specially midpack where guys who are not good enough to run at the front and not smart enough to run in the back often struggle too hard to keep up.

So, I take it that a good practice, if you are in the middle of the pack, is to let faster riders get ahead of you when safe? I normally am in the back of the pack but this is a good reminder for me to lose the guy ahead of me to allow myself to ride my own ride. Out of sight, out of mind.

That looks like some sort of elaborate spring mating ritual....is this how baby squids are made ?

There you are! Nice to meet you that day... too bad it was under those conditions, though!

Sucks I have a 9-5 M-F job, as weekends are my only chance to get out there. Maybe I'll leave 84/9/35 alone for a while (and Redwood/Pinehurst too, for that matter) until people calm down. There are plenty of north bay roads to keep me busy a while!
