It's air not water. Do you need a decompression chamber coming down from that height? I'd imagine your ears would pop a few times and that's about it.

Coal Miners have in fact experienced decompression sickness, and decompression chambers are used in some instances.

Like altitude sickness if they spent enough time below? I stand corrected.

i'm thinkin its how much air you have sitting on top of you. At 12000+ feet down in the ground. The air pressure has to be more the 14.7.... at least how i'm thinking about it. maybe i'm wrong

interesting PDF on another deep S.A. mine.

Apparently the temperatures are so high at those depths that the atmospheric pressure is about 1.4P at 3500m. They have to pump cool air into the mines for the workers which then causes the pressure to increase to 2P, which is about the same as diving in 10m of sea water. So there are probably the same rules that apply to diving since it's all based on atmospheric pressure.

Thanks!

I get to see the A-10 fly nearly every day here in Tucson.
At least for the time being. Congress wants to moth ball them in favor of the new fighter that cost s shit ton but still does not do what the A-10 does.

2 words. Boise, Idaho.

Apparently, the Boise airport is shared with either the air national guard. My hour layover there was spent watching A-10's doing touch n go runs in a major lightning/thunder storm.

Edit: Confirmed. Idaho Army National Guard.

Tuscon shares with military also. Last flight I had out of there, our 737 had to wait to taxi while two F-16s proceeded to cut ahead of us and then take off full afterburner.
