awesome throttle control device

Some of us occasionally have to slab through the desert. You can go for hours without needing to adjust speed. However, going for hours without needing to scratch your right butt cheek is not as rare.

I took a ride on my 86 1100 Gixxr (after modifying it to sport-touring trim) that lasted 4 1/2 months long...Have you rode day after day for month after month?

Doesn't fit on my bars :thumbdown

Worked on the stock SV bars, but there isn't enough space on the GSXR bars.

I've rarely found that the thing fits exactly as it should out of the package. Often some careful modification will make it fit most bikes.

Lou, is it possible that some people might want to remove their right hand from the grip at some point during a ride?

Yes, your penis is bigger than mine. Is telling us that the only reason you post here?

I've never had a need that wasn't met, by timing it. There is no shortage of moments when my throttle hand, isn't holding a twist of the throttle.

On totally off throttle, occasions...I remove (or can remove) my throttle hand, from the throttle.

Doing that to flex/excercise the fingers, and entire arm, keeps the body happy in long range riding.
That applies to raising your ass off the seat of the bike, as well, when you can.

Meh, I've ridden for 2 - 3 hours straight on highway 5 with no breaks and never wished for cruise control. Besides, I think it presents a safety issue, and bikes have enough safety issues as it is.

I like this idea but the best in my book is the weighted bar ends that have a lock.. i forget the company but they have a little orange stripe around them. Most of the LD riders and the Ironbutt guys use them! Work great and are part of the bike instead of something added around the grip

Free if you know an electrician... You can even get them in a variety of colors to match your bike :thumbup

Yes, that is the software guy from Mission One and his custom mod.

I'm choosing not to tell anyone how to ride or if something is safe or not - we're almost adults here, and able to make our own decisions.

Just tellin Ya about bike stuff. Penis talk is un-related and just plain Whacko.

Actually, you were telling us about yourself. Your comment had nothing to do with what I posted. Great, you went on a long trip. That doesn't change anything about my comment.

Throttlemeisters. They are great except that they are over $150.

And they don't work if you have barkbuster (which I always have on my bikes.

Misleading thread title. That device doesn't control the throttle, it only locks it in one position.

It controls it by locking it in one place. It didn't say it was a speed control device. :p

:teeth I was going to mention that..

But what I did mention, seemed to overwhelm several posters... so..didn't think a concept like...Throttle control is a loop involving your eyes and your brain and motor/muscle function, would be well received.

Or to put it another way. I wussed out.

So...Glad You did mention it
:thumbup

If that's the case, then my bikes already have a throttle control device. It's a cable that locks it in the off position whenever I let go of it. When it's parked that throttle is locked into place. Total control. I suppose that by putting my hand on the grip and twisting it breaks that control. So in other words my hand, by varying the position of the throttle, does not control it. :teeth

I've seen and tried those. Besides being very expensive, they are more awkward to set and release. The plastic Vista Cruise is functionally superior (push down with thumb to set, raise back of thumb slightly for an instant release) and being black plastic, blends in with most of the plastic bits that are on bikes already. And it's nicely out of the way at all times.

Here's mine:

You didn't overwhelm anyone, you just didn't actually add anything useful.

The only two possibilities, on that post...that jump out, is...
1.Everyone tells you what they are thinking...and your the clearing house of that collected thought.
Which I doubt.

And 2. Your Whacko... and not real capable of speaking the truth....which I'm inclined to believe.

Thank you for posting about this! I just ordered one :) I'm not an ironbutt rider and wouldn't use this on anything but a long straight higway, but I like the way you can take it off easily and you don't have to move your hand all over the grip to set it. I don't really expect to ride for long periods of time without the need to adjust throttle either, but even on 50 mile ride to work, setting the thing to a slightly higher throttle setting or twisting the throttle a tad to reduce throttle every minute or so (with the rest of the time for resting your hand, totally relaxed on the grip) would go a LONG way to comfort.

I was going to get a throttlemeister, but they are far more expensive and look more dificult to use (though not overly so), but for 20 bucks for this thing, everyone can afford to make a mistake if it turns out not to be what you wanted :) I got it in black, and will probably put a little piece of thin adhesive backed foam where in the area where it strikes the lever, I'm not going to have some 20 part scratching my Brembo brake lever!

Thank you for the info!

You might consider that you were first to speak for the collected thought of those responding. I merely, corrected your conclusion.
