At some point, they cease to be 1960's cars when they're modified to the point of being recognizable only by name or general body shape.

Rear disc brakes and air suspension on a 60's american car??? :rofl

WTF happened to the dashboard, round plastic steering wheels, and stuff that made those cars great?

If you called them bad-ass modern cars with 1960's bodies, I might reluctantly agree.

^^^The Camaro I kinda understand but the Mustang I would still call '60s. Frame, body still Orig. The didnt even cut the shock towers on that one. I think its remarkable the work thats involved. I think they are making those cars perform to what they are capable of. I have a '69 Mach1 and no way would I want all the horsepower so it can body roll in the turns. Going fast in a straight line is lame.

Yes, it's a real Shelby GT350 and it's been racing since the sixties :thumbup

I saw a convertible Olds 442 on the freeway yesterday during the commute home. I honked my bike's horn and waved cuz that was a bad-ass '60s car.

Willwood = garbage. Looks like they don't know how to set up suspension either. All that work and it still handles like shit.

Ha the Avanti rules!!! Those are half bad ass 60's cars the other half is poor choice in bolt on garbage chasing that SEMA dream.

There's nothing wrong with upgrading the suspension and brakes on an old car, but it kills me when I see Willwood dogshit on anything, especially high buck cars. Damn, get something decent, not that crap. I'd never buy anything from those douchebags.

I agree about the interior.. It needs the stock stuff back. however the bags and rear disc is way superior then the 60's. I like that...

I never heard of this Willwood place. If they are anything like SMC (Super Muscle Car... Barry White) or Boyd Coddington I would highly agree. :x Both of those shops butcher cars so badly it isn't even funny.

EDIT: aaaahhhh apparently they are brakes. Must be fairly new "crap" since I haven't heard of them :laughing So what makes them crap?

Other than employing illegal aliens, they just copy designs from real brake manufacturers and generally are of shitty quality. I've witnessed a Wilwood caliper fail (shear in half); I've never seen any other caliper do so. Like I said, I'd never put that crap on anything.

:wtf Sheer in half?!?! That's.... :wow Good to know. I'm in the process of building my v8 Monza. I have one of those silly rules... "If you can't make 'em woah. Don't make 'em go." I'm gonna put those crap calipers in the can't make them woah category. :thumbup

I must be a novice cuz Willwood or Stainless Steel Brakes were the only
two I was looking at to upgrade my stang. I want to upgrade the drums in the rear and figured I would do the whole system.

How about a $1.3 Mustang "The Obsidian"

wilwood has been around for a few decades, i believe they got their start in the circle track venues. i woulnd't call them crap, but i also believe you get what you pay for and their cheap "upgrade" kits are probably cheap for a reason

barry and boyd have both bolted lots of wilwood products on their cars, and i agree to Avoid the Boyd

"the Obsidian"

'might be possibly the fastest mustang ever, 210mph projected on the dyno' :rofl

a dyno isn't a wind tunnel :teeth

if you're going to upgrade the brakes, make sure you don't pigeon hole yourself into buying the specific pads and rotors from the upgrade kit manufacturer. if they're not borrowed from some other MFG parts bin (chevy, ford, porsche, toyota) you might have to pay dearly when wear parts wear out, if they're even available anymore. a friend had a brembo upgrade kit on his tahoe from Canepa designs. replacement rotors and pads were more expensive than reverting back to stock so he did with no noticeable loss in braking capability
