BARF getting a poser rep.???

Can 9292002 and Trakho go out and run hot laps together? That'd make me happy!

I think it really comes down to the fact that he had different expectations from the ride. BARF is a HUGE group that's concentrated in one area. There are numerous rides going on all the time. I just think it would be better for new members and existing members if the Riders were posted in a format by the initial poster/organizer.

Example:

Day: 1/21/03
Meeting Location: Starbucks off N. Main and Treat Blvd. Walnut Creek
Time: 11:00am
Destination: Alhambra Valley Road, Bear creek, Skyline Redwood and back through with reverse route.
Type of Riders: Advanced/aggressive riders only.

A format such as above give a CLEAR sense of the ride planned and would eliminate confusison. As BARF gets bigger the format need to be more tidy.

:thumbup ... now thats constructive ...... :thumbup

Perhaps the next time I attend this ride with the S.F B.A.R.F lot, or people, or maybe not, I should drive a minvan, or rather, the small yellow school bus reserved for the *special* ones and let them board while wearing their leathers, raceing boots, or platform shoes for some, and since they all must don a helmet, they should feel comfortable riding on the back of the bus. In all fairness, I should let a contestant of a Special Olympic drive the bus whom I believe will do a better job than the same bunch riding.

Ok lumping that all into one paragraph made it very difficult to read. HOWEVER, I really liked this part. Right or wrong, I wont comment, but I have to agree with our dynamic duo over here that THIS is some good stuff :laughing I would love to get a picture of something like that.

Nothing against the parties in question, you are all great people, but... I'm reminded of a picture that was floating around on the internet. know where I'm going?

"Arguing on the internet is like the special olympics, even if you win you are still retarded"

Don't waste your time trying to protect your "rep" In the end, what does it matter?

Then again...Biker BARF Fo'eva! We make our own RULZ!! Don't be dis'n da Bizarf-ARF! :laughing

Man Robert, this guy needs to join us! It sounds like when we first came on the forum and asked honest questions and got SLAMMED for it. Remember that?

This guy is nothing like you guys. He doesn't even have the balls to post on BARF and make his point made.:finger

What the hell is a poser any way? Posing as what? Why would anyone care about “posers”? Is it someone who gets a sport bike and doesn’t know how to ride it that well, one who has very little skill? Is that term used because someone, even with little riding skill, is decked out in flashy leathers and a replica helmet? Are riders who are “fast” in the twisties or at trackdays (especially those who let everyone know they are) posers to the top ten AFM racers? Are the top ten AFM racers posers to top 20 AMA racers… and so forth? Who cares?

There are a lot of different kinds of sport bike riders. Many of whom are trying to improve their skill at riding in the twisties or on track days. Some who are more interested in going fast in a straight line or getting the rush of acceleration than riding fast through corners. Some who are more interested in stunting. Of course, within all these groups there are many levels of skill. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Often, it’s frustrating for faster riders to ride with slower riders. Often, less skilled, slower riders try to keep up with more skilled riders—with bad results. Many get obsessed with going fast without concentrating on improving skills (me too). If there are these problems during group rides, maybe the more skilled riders can take the time to help the less skilled riders. That seems to me to be a good sign of someone who is definitely NOT “posing”: that the more skilled rider is not so full of himself that he or she can help less skilled riders learn to be better. If that’s not their thing, then just safely pass the less skilled riders and go to the front of the pack, lead or do a solo ride.

:)

.

let's be clear here i was on this ride ... and this individual took shots at some of my personal friends so my comments were in defense of them and the ride that was clearly posted " the scenic ride" .. I'm sure if the roles were reversed you'd say or feel the same.. AS far as the track day is concerned it was mearly a point, the point was to make this individual understand the road is'nt a race track.... But if he wanted to join the track day with us then he'll find a pace he'd be happy with.. Or find a group of riders that he can hang with ..

"ROY" has apperently been trying to "log in" to BARF to respond here instead of at SBF.

Y'all should just sit and wait patiently for him to show up and "booger" all of you.

Don't you both have 929's?

on topic:

The problem with that guy isn't what he said, but rather how he said it. By posting into another forum, he clearly was not trying to be constructive, but rather he was stirring the shit. Also, his choice of words and overall tone of his posts are rather condescending as well.

you are right.. your speed is very subjective to where you set the reference.. We obviously cannot say someone is a poser if they ride slow.

i would say poser is someone who portrays one kind/type of rider but they are not that at all. They are going for the portrayal of something rather than being or trying to be that.

so if i saw a guy who has ohlin's all around and dainese full leather with speed bump.. carbon brake pads... etc.. but he has not yet been on the track nor he plans to anytime soon.. i'd say he is a poser.

he is a poser because he is so caught up portraying a racer look and equipment. He goes as far as retarding his bike's performance to maintain his image.

Personally, I could give a crap what this guy thinks. I wasn't on the Skagg's ride, but my philosophy would still apply. Ride your own ride, as you are they only one that knows your limits and are ultimately responsible for your own safety. If someone has a problem with that, then we're better off not riding with them.

Why does anyone care about this guy anyway. I personally dont go on any BARF designated rides, but I have ridden with many BARFERs. The folks I have always ridden with are pretty much the same, some joined BARF some didnt--who cares.
In any large group of riders some will be fast, some wont, some are newer, some are older, this seems so obvious-I dont understand why this guys comments would be perceived as so injurious.
BARF aint ever gonna be all things to all people nor should it

:cry :eek :loco Reading too much. So many word of wisdom. I'm pretty sure this guy feel bad enough and took the time and wrote this apology for barfers. So get over it post whores :twofinger

You mean all this time I have been riding with gixersin, gixersin is a poser? DAYUM! I need to find me a new riding idol!

:twofinger :twofinger :twofinger :twofinger :twofinger :twofinger

Let me chime in here that the guy has good points.

I think we should (as a whole) AVOID BECOMING EXCLUSIVE. And avoid comments like "I could give a damn what this guy thinks" and "it's US against HIM"... it's childish. Reminds me of myself last year. ... anyway ...

Try to see his point of view, he does have some good points... BARFers are not necessarily the best streetriders. Shiet, I mean, I was VERY embarassed crashing last week and adding to the BARF crash stats --- which are quite high. And yes, I know what he's talking about by people slamming on their brakes in the turns on BARF rides ... I have been behind them. And to certain people, I am one of them!

What we NEED to do is encourage him to come out and ride with the more advanced riders on BARF. Not to pit him in an "US against YOU" situation.

Why the hell are we so sensitive about it?
