BARF getting a poser rep.???

As far as I know, this thread will not be closed, unless some serious flaming happens. This thread does bring up great points. People should be able to post their 0.02 cents.

Why close the thread??? The only problem I see with this thread is peoples blatant disregard for the issues at hand and turning it into a mockery.
Roy's posts hurts me, but thanks Robert.

This isn't an attack at you mrtnz, just a general statement.
As far as I know, the whole backside of Skaggs road was wet. Some water crossings and gravel too. Be careful out there. The frontside seemed more favorable.

On a serious note, was Skaggs from the bottom to the Bridge dry??? Me and my friends were going to finish up our Berryessa with Skaggs but it was getting too dark, fast.

It was dry thru large sections ... but there were occasional wet spots ... easy to spot while it was light out though.

Igor and I got a bit of riding in ... most of the wet sections weren't too bad either. I don't had a few moments where my back end wiggled a bit and it wasn't enough to even make me worry.

And yes, I know what he's talking about by people slamming on their brakes in the turns on BARF rides ... I have been behind them. And to certain people, I am one of them!

If people would leave enough space between riders instead of crowding them, this wouldn't be a problem. That's the main reason I hate riding with someone behind me. If I feel the need to brake at a certain time, I don't want some tailgating rider to crash into me. Almost every group ride I've been on (Barf and otherwise) the pack is way too close together.

wow

i never even tried to play the game, i just wanted screen shots ... lol ...

i got 59 first try and then my moms dog started barking at the sounds so i decided not to try again ... the noises the jungle looking guy were making were making me feel a little weird any way ...

Why do I hear so many stories of people running wide/crossing double yellow on group rides??? I think people need to examine their own riding and be quick to point out to others when they makes such mistakes. Most of the time riders run wide coming into the corner thinking they can't make it. They simply pick up the bike and go straight off.

Next time you start to panic going into a turn just TELL yourself in the helmet to relax, look thru the turn and lean the bike. It will work for you majority of the time, esp. on the street.

This guy has made some very valid points about seeing brakes mid corner, running wide, dbl yellow, target fixation etc. etc. etc. These are all very REAL problems and should be addressed to make group rides safer for all members. I was hoping to see someone step up and acknowledge the real issues at hand but once again, no such luck.

Such a noble altruist . . . how could we ever doubt your intentions, Robert? :rolleyes

I don't disagree that these are topics that need discussing, and skills that need practicing. But there are definitely better ways to go about broaching the topic than yours. Your predilection for shit-stirring is as obvious as a wolf in wolf's clothing.

If you're unclear on how to start a dialogue on helping riders improve their skills, ask Doc Wong or Gary Jaehne for pointers. They're both quite skilled at sharing the collective knowledge they have gained over the years, and they're none too bashful about doing it.

But do us all a favor and don't pretend like this thread holds any other interest for you beyond the enjoyment of watching the dischord you've been instrumental in creating. Subltety isn't your strong suit.
