BARF Militia

Yep, I have one of the Marvel conversions. It only works with round-nose high-velocity rounds, though, which sucks. Hollow-points hit the feed ramp and split open, and std velocity rounds don't fully cycle.

I can't wait to try out my little Bobcat, and love my 10-shot revolver, but want a reliable semi-auto, too. Preferrably, several. :teeth

you have a Marvel? :thumbup
Are you going to bring it to Chabot next range day? I sort of would like to see if it fits the Springfield Operator frame. I emailed Marvel and havnet gotten a response. I wonder if the full length dust cover will pose any problems.

Sure, I'll bring it to Chabot this Sat, with some of the ammo it likes.

New aquisition

Here is my newest aquisition. The Kel Tec SU-16.

Haven't got a chance to shoot it yet (I just bought it today) but I can't wait.

Cool rifle shotline, but why would you get that over an AR, since you live in land of the free?

sohijiro- that's sweet, getting one of those is on my list of buys. Very cool.

ok guys, I went to the last range day at Metcalf with some of you guys, and I fell in love with the 1911 .45, prior to that, I was going ot get a sig 229 in .40 caliber, pros and cons? I will eventually gete a 12 gauge as well, but is this a good weapon to have at home?

Those are both great guns, and will do home defense just fine. Just decide which one fits your hand best, and that you can shoot accurately. The Sig will come with 10 round mags, the 1911 with either 7 or 8 round mags, but you can buy 10 round magazines for it.

I have a couple of 1911s and a SIG 229. If you haven't had a lot of practice with a single action trigger, I'd probably do the 229 for home defense as it has a more deliberate trigger pull and no safety to mess with. But for shooting pleasure, nothing beats a nice 1911. I have two Kimbers and love them both. Plus I like the feel of the recoil of a .45 much more than the sharper hit of the .40S&W.

A shotgun is fine for home defense, just need to think about how you are going to keep it secured yet ready for when you need it. For me it is just easier to keep a handgun close by than a shotgun.

Mmmmmmm...........
Kimber 1911's............
Yummmy!!!!
Kimbers rock! Not that I'm biased or anything. They can get up on the pricey side, but the money spent is well worth it. If you want it to perform supah, get one from their custom shop. Everything done at the manufacturer, (porting, dovetail, magwell, nightsights), makes for an awesome piece! I just picked up the Chip McCormick 10rd mag's for mine. It'll be out at Chabot tomorrow.

Basically it came down to cost. I could have gotten a match grade AR-15 with a two stage trigger, but it was double the cost of the SU-16. My requirements were for range and accuracy so the AR would probably have been better but it basically came down to cost. Had I bought the AR I wouldn't have had any money left.

Since I am trying to build up my arsenal I don't mind having this gun. I am building up to getting the AR and maybe an FAL eventually.

The great thing is that when I want to get the AR, I can just rund down to the store and get it.:teeth
