BARF Militia

We've been selling a few Caniks, and nobody hates them.

I finally bought a Sig on Saturday. A friend asked me about a Marlin 44 Mag that was on a local auction site. Of course after I gave my advice, I browsed the auction, and made a couple bids. The one that stuck was a P320 XFull for $330, which worked out to $380 with premium and sales tax. I'm not disappointed.

Canik is coming out with steel frame versions of the Rival, known as the Rival-S. I will get one.

Sunday's match in the wind was a shit show and I had two mags that didn't want to drop free from my Rival.

I wonder why they don't do an optics version of that gun? I mean you could do optics class and be fine its not like you would be stuck in Open AFAIK.

The Canik Rival? Its rear sight is on a plate and it includes 5 or 6 optic plates. My video shows it with an optic on one of the included plates.

Some of the SKUs include Canik's own branded red dot.

Canik makes very nice pistols not the most elegant but very nice for the price. I have a TP9Sfv and love it. I have been using my M&Ps for USPSA but maybe a Rival will be in my future.

2stroke, I thought they were all optics ready but couldn't see the cut for the blank plate so thought they didn't do that for the Rival. I kind of like the looks of the Rival S may need to get in on the ground floor before they become too popular and the price goes up.

That issue you had with the mag not dropping free did you figure out why or was it a fluke?

The price on the S is going up quite a bit from the plastic frame Rival, which already went up quite a bit from their previous top dog model, which went up from the previous ... :laughing

I checked all of my mags the next day. Just these 2 in the video were reluctant to drop free. They don't want to drop with the grip tilted, they want the grip straight up and down. And they want me to press and hold the mag release button instead of briefly tapping it.

So that's a nice pistol?
Nice if you like a great trigger and good ergonomics in a mass-produced handgun. Oh yeah, it's pretty accurate, too.

I find it kind of ugly
Fortunately pistol competitions are objectively measured by speed and accuracy, not subjectively measured by cosmetic appearance.

Time to wake up the thread again.

So got in on some fairly decent sales this black Friday so I got a bare upper, upper parts kit and a bolt so that I can finally stick my 8.5" 300BO barrel on something and get that thing shooting. Going to pair it with a ATN X-Sight 3-12x night vision scope. I have something predating on my ducks and chickens and it is going to need a 220gr subsonic pill to sort it out.

Load up your carts.

If nothing happens by EOD, mag ban is dunzo and it's freedom week/year again.

Of notable concern from the decision:

Judge Benitez said:
Whether 50-round, 75-round, or 100-round drum magazines are constitutionally protected is a different question because they may be much less common and may be unusual.

Methinks it's time to grab a drum mag or ten and contribute to making them far more common.

But also there is case law and history to say that something that has been commonly banned, so it CAN'T be in common use, doesn't mean it isn't protected.

Don’t. Kangaroo circus “court” stayed the Duncan. In clear violation of Bruin, USSC note on Duncan, and their own procedures. As was expected of them.

Supreme Court is toothless. Monkey courts don’t give a fuck.

Passed my CoCo county ccw qualifier today. Did well with my shield 1.0 9mm and just passed with my Glock 29sf. Definitely need to practice and get some instruction with the g29.

Pretty excited in being able to carry until January 1, 2024 when going to my mailbox while carrying will be illegal 🤦🏼‍♂️

Ok wait what? why would it be illegal to carry to your mailbox?

Still waiting for mosquito infestation to die down so I can test run my Panzer Arms bullpup shotgun. They are so bad right now if I stay still for more than few seconds it feels like I have given blood at the blood bank.

Bunch of new restrictions on where you can carry go into effect Jan 1st. Believe it's the new SB2 bill. It's already being litigate against but that just means years tied up in the courts. I havent specifically looked at all the rules and plan to carry regardless.

did you need to take a training course? if so with which outfit.
Did you have qualify with the firearm concealed?

Yeah for CoCo county there's a required 8 hour (might be 6) classroom instruction course.

I used Paladian Tactical. The training needs to be an approved provider. At the end of the classroom instruction with Paladian there's a range practice for about an hour. Not an instruction but a rehearsal of what the Sheriff qualifying test would look like. I hadn't shot in over a year and was terrible. I did 3 1hr private instructions with a Paladian Tactical instructor. Made a HUGE difference. Wouldn't have passed other wise. Going to a general indoor range to practice doesn't really train for the test because you can't draw and quickly get sight on picture. I've also started dry firing few nights a week in the garage for like 10-15 minutes.

In the application process which is now all online, they ask you list the two firearms and serials you want to carry.

The test is from holstered uncovered. At the qualifier there's not practice or walkthrough. Range Officer walks the group of us, 5 of us, to the line and went through the commands all cold.

CoCo county is:
6rds in 6 seconds from 5 yards
6rds in 10 seconds from 7 yards
6rds in 15 seconds from 10 yards

I couldn't believe how well I did cold with my Shield 1.0 . I squeaked by with my G29sf. The 10mm requires a little more control.
