BARF Militia

I've got both and as range toys both are fun.

Not an expert but the AKM/AK-47 type rifles that are popular in the US were phased out by the Soviets in the 70s. The 7.62x39 round sucked for combat. The current rifle that is used in service, the AK-12, does have bolt hold open, Picatinny rails, etc.

Anyway, I enjoy both for different reasons. Everyone should at least have one of each.

Not entirely tru. There are still plenty of 47s used by spetsnaz boys. Goes through walls and doors much better.

Even here in the swamps, it is crazy. Since Wally World got Woke and stopped selling all the bad calibers shelves have been empty everywhere. I have been to a few sporting goods stores around here and they are all empty of ammo unless you want some boutique hunting calibers. All AR calibers and handgun ammo are out. The shelves are so empty you would think they are going out of business.

Did you guys see that Cheaper than Dirt was selling a mixed bag of 50 rounds with dent/scratch,dropped rounds, rounds found on the wharehouse floor and not even the same caliber and was selling the bag for $38/50rds? WTFis wrong with the world right now????

If one was looking to begin stocking up in 2020, they were far too late.

I was amazed at the Wal-Mart clearance - .223 at an average of .13-.15 cpr and 9mm at .8-.9 cpr. Few around here seemed to even be aware. I may or may not have became friends with the sporting goods manager on a first name basis that week, lol!

Decimal in the wrong place/maybe shouldn't be there? :wow

At .13-.15 cents per round... that's 1/100th of "normal". :teeth

If that's MSRP, I wouldn't trust it not to be Chinese slag.

Yes! Somebody else understands math! :thumbup:laughing

I was going to talk about how it wasn't really that bad then I got the decimal joke.

I too stocked up during the great Walmart Wokeness sale of 2019. there was 45, 9mm,300BO, and 5.56 for days then there was none. It was like black Friday in December for gun enthusiasts.

That was the Walmart Woke sale if you blinked you missed it. I think a lot of insiders at Walmart bought most of it and the rest of us had to scrape up what was left.

I can't speak as to what kind of mark up is going to happen, but there will be an ammo vendor at the Santa Rosa gun show at the Flamingo Hotel this weekend (plus gun vendors, magazine vendors and optic vendors) with inventory that was slotted for the cancelled Sacramento gun show.

No fluff on this one, it's small, & down to the basics.

Ahh, The Flamingo. We had some good times there; my wife's late cousin was friends with and did carpentry work for the owner. Do you know if the Equus is still in business or was it get burned?

Fountaingrove Inn / Equus burned down in the 2017 fires, as did the Hilton Round Barn.
Knock on wood, the Flamingo has been untouched by earthquakes, fires, and pandemics.
We've been knocked down, but always get back on our feet.

Bummer.....

Well, I'm glad the only primers I'm low on are large rifle. Have you seen Gunbroker? Small rifle and small pistol are selling for $100 and more per 1000. There's 1000 Federal AR Match primers with current bids bids of $145.

10...10...10 cents for a PRIMER!??

Not bad if you only shoot 3-shot groups every target cycle at your Fudd range.

Speaking of ranges, I'm looking for a new shooting spot. I've got one close, though it's a bit of a drive off-road, and one far, with a little bit of off-roading. Those close spot is not fire-safe enough for me and it's a little to close to somebody's ranch house.

I've been perusing the maps looking for spots and I found a couple hillsides that I encountered on motorcycle rides. They looked good until yesterday...

I think I will just have to dry fire at home and/or drive all the way out to my more fire-safe spot. I'm considering re-joining a club for use of its range, an hour and fifteen minutes away. Yikes.
