Girl Beats Guys: A Swiss Teen Rifle Festival
Das Zürcher Knabenschiessen

http://www.stephenhalbrook.com/article-knabbenschiessen/swiss_teen_rifle_festival.html

Held since the year 1657, the competition traditionally has been both a sport and a way of encouraging marksmanship in a country where every male serves in the militia army. Today, girls compete along side the boys. In fact, girls are now winning the competition.

It’s September 13, 2004. In the U.S. on this date, the Clinton fake “assault weapon” ban sunsets. In Zurich, some 5,631 teens – 4,046 boys and 1,585 girls, aged 13-17 – have finished firing the Swiss service rifle, and it’s time for the shootoff.

Best quote out of the whole article:

In Swiss shooting culture, a few accurate hits are superior to lots of “spray and pray” shots. Before World War I, a German general observing Swiss military maneuvers asked a Swiss militiaman what would the Swiss do if a German army, twice the size of the Swiss militia, invaded. The militiaman responded, “Shoot twice and go home.”

:twofinger I respect the history of it, but I just can't get behind a single stack.
Then get a Para-ordnance P14.45. Have to go out of state for the magazines, but how does a 14 round 1911 pattern .45 strike you?

:cool

good deal, where did you get it? I havent seen one at a shop yet.
:laughing One or two of us. :troy

I got it through Auction Arms. It's the second gun I've gotten over the net. This one was new so I wasn't worried my 870 was used but looked like new when I got it.
I paid 271.00 plus 20 bucks shipping for the 1911.

I've bought 4 guns through Auction Arms, and they were all perfect.

My new rig (Rem. 870 6+1, Hogue overmolded short stock and fore grip, 6 shot side saddle, Wilson Combat sling mount):

Holy shit, I cannot believe what I saw today. I had to go to the grocery store to buy some things for dinner.

And what did I see:

Rifles and PISTOLS for sale at the sporting goods counter.

The land of the free is a great place.:teeth

I have only seen one Asian in town and he was an exchange student.:laughing

Things are going fine, but it sucks trying to get all the paper work together to take over the business. Lottery appliction, fish and game, beer and wine license, everyone wants to have their pile of paper and their share of my money.:laughing

It is all worth it though.

Did you beat him with soap in a sock?

Don't forget to get your FFL, so you can sell everything we can't get here, and you can post pics for us to drool over.

Depends on where you are. In UT, there's no waiting period, and if you have your CCW, you don't have to do the DROS/NICS check, either. Just the yellow form, and walk out.

There's a dude over at AR15.com who's been shooting at a variety of household materials to determine penetration. The results are very eye-opening.
