BARF RALLY's 2025!.... Reservations open!

ok Truckee here you come!

I will get some GPS tracks laid down for expert, intermediate and beginner moto rides. I know the expert trails well and this will be a hoot of Rocky Tahoe single track.
I've been told my meter is miscalculated for what is beginner or intermediate dirt bike rides so I will have to do some work on that.
Most of my moto routes involve water especially in August, I ride out by Prosser, Boca and stampede reservoirs a lot as there are a ton of diverse trails out there and water to dunk in and cool off, and places to park and camp also.
The NorCal BDR runs through there too.

Hopefully I am in town that weekend, and the smoke stays away.

And it would be great if when you rate the routes you provide you could also indicate whether they’re big-bike friendly (aka ADV bike) routes or dual sport routes. I’ve ridden BDR sections 2, 3 and 4 in that area that go from Sonora pass to Truckee on my R1200GS, and I’d rate them solid intermediate with some advanced options for those that want to push themselves (I didn’t ride those). I suspect that the dual sport guys would find these same sections to be pretty easy, at least for the base route sections. Section 5 goes out of Truckee to Graegle, but I haven’t done that one yet.

Most awesome... thank you!

I would say the beginner and ADV stuff would be the same except for any plated road/highway travel. There are a lot of two track / Jeep road / Forest road at anybody should be able to find, route and ride. Plenty of forest roads people can put their own ride together.

I think what I have most special to share is access to the stuff a visitor with a map isn't going to find, which is all the (difficult) single track.
But I don't know if there will be any takers for that.

As I said the NorCal BDR runs right through downtown, So adventure bikes can tackle it several different ways. Start from town, take the BDR north or south for 75% of the day, and plan a bailout and ride some roads back to town. Switch that around and ride payment in the morning, jump into the BDR and return to Truckee, etc.

as you know, "the stuff a visitor with a map isn't going to find, which is all the (difficult) single track" is catnip, to the right crowd. :laughing:thumbup

I'm sure there's plenty of people who go to the twice-a-year StonyBARF who'd appreciate obscure, difficult, single-track up in the Sierras--would they need a plated bike, if we can entice them to attend Truckee? :angel

I am fighting it. They want $300 bills a night.
Even with a Roomie that is $300 for the weekend.

Best western and one other.

Will try that one. Thanks.

That is the one. Quote was 299. Is that for our dates??

Suppose we could just throw it open to all to book online and forget the blocking of rooms.

whoops. No. Sorry - wrong dates. Nevermind. The Inn At Truckee is correct - I booked it for $143/night on our dates.

I am tyring to get the cost down for Truckee.
Waiting on a quote to see what moving it to Oct 10-12 does to that.
If we can knock off a hundo a night and make it around 200 then it would be more BARFish.
I have heard some WTF's when rooms were in the $175 range so I am sensitive to our Rally attendees pocket books.

augustiron mentioned Oct as the go to time for the Truckee area so stay tuned.

Early Oct is better for some things and a tradeoff for others.
Good:
-less crowds, cheaper rooms, less chance of fire smoke, not too hot,
Maybe not:
- cooler, lakes and rivers not desirable as summertime, higher possibility of rain, but still low probability,
