BARF's Biggest Loser, Gainer Maintainers 2016 Edition

I gained pound and inches :mad

Lost some strength. Must get back up on the horse and back on the groove.

So, 3/27 came and passed. How'd everyone do over the past 12 weeks?

I started at 179. I'm around 189-190 right now. Not quite 1lb/week but I feel pretty good and still fit in my pants. :laughing

I'm walk around between 194 and 197 these days (6'1" tall), and have been for some time now. That is a GIHUGEOUS victory for me, as over the past 4 years I've ranged from 160 - 260 lbs. Some of that I can blame on spine problems keeping me from being active. Most of that I can blame on my lack of making good decisions in terms of nutrition. Either way, it was some serious yo-yo action. My weight fluctuation goes all the way back to college, varying by about 30lbs for a long time (though seldom in the right direction).

Since the spine fusion May 2014 I've been gradually getting better, these last 6 months especially have seen a marked improvement in pain level/management and ability to train consistently. I've also educated myself lots in terms of nutrition, supplements, resting and training.

The results are speaking for themselves. My weight has held steady for several months (that's totally new for me), I'm getting really close to having that 6-pack dialed in (August is still my target timeline), to the point where I no longer have visible love handles (just skin/pudge covering my lower abs that I'm hoping will also burn off over time as I stick with the plan).

I've set personal bests for a number of lifts, and I'm getting stronger. Best of all, training and eating healthy has become a way of life I've embraced and truly love.

I also need to thank Joe Rogan, even though he has no clue how much he has helped me. I incorporated the voice of Joe Rogan into my workouts when I started doing 5x5s several months ago. I watch quite a bit of UFC/MMA, so when I get to my 4th set on the 5x5s I always hear Joe Rogan's voice in my head talking about a fighter "going into the deep waters", and seeing "what a fighter is made of". And as I start that 4th or 5th set, I used to start with a "fuck you Joe Rogan" as I heard his voice in my head, questioning whether I had what it took to go into the championship rounds, or deep waters (rounds 4 and 5 in the UFC). It's great motivation, though I admit Joe's commentary has changed. Now when I walk up to do a 4th or 5th set, dripping sweat and dog tired, I hear Joe talking still, but this time he's going on about "this guy has proven he has what it takes to go the distance, but he has taken a beating today and he's looking exhausted as the bell rings". That's still followed by a "fuck you Joe Rogan" through my teeth as I lift my first rep.

Whatever it takes, make it work for you, and keep up the great work everyone!

:thumbup

I've started focusing heavily on the strength training, and the scale is not being favorable. Thus far at least my "fatty" measurements are staying the same, but I haven't exactly been eating very well the past couple weeks. Trying to get out of that mode, ugh, just struggle to find the time to cook and prep meals all the time!!!

I've been working an average of 245 hours in a 30 day period so proper eating and exercise is a fantasy at best. I can't seem to break the 240 barrier and was 244 today grrrrrrrrrr.

I refuse to give up and will be down more in due time

Ya, I'm not much better off - averaging approximately 230 hours in a 4 week period. Once I'm done with the damn commute to Foster City (last week is the last week of that) it'll make a huge difference.

start: 184
week 1: 184
week 2: 182
week 3: 181
week 4: 181
week 5: 180
week 6 - ?: 184-183
18Mar: 181
25Mar: 181
01Apr: 181

I had a bit of momentum last Thursday, coming in at 180, but then gained one back on my official weigh-day (Friday). :rant

easter was particularly gluttonous for me. Then my family went to La Fondue with a groupon on Wednesday. Honestly, I'm surprised my weight didn't shoot up from the last week of indulgence. so, I'll take staying even for now.

Up a few pounds after several weeks of nearly continuous travel. As usual, tough to eat healthy at hotel restaurants and small town bars. Staying as active as possible given the long hours we push while on the road, and I had a fairly intense hike/climb earlier this week, 6.8 miles and 2,500 feet of climbing.

FINALLY done with the cross-training of my replacement for my old position, up at my "new" position full time as of yesterday! That also meant getting back into my workout routines, and getting on the plan my trainer put together. :cool

Decided to upgrade my gym membership to one that offered a little more stuff for what my trainer has put together, plus it has a pool/sauna which is really nice on days I don't want to do a "normal" workout, or am injured, or just sore. :laughing

I've pretty much maintained over the past few weeks, but sure as shit wasn't losing anything. Glad to be back at it though, I was actually really missing it, but there was literally no time between the commute and long days. But that's in the past now!!

First time posting here, in part because I came into this weight loss thing sort of by accident.

Back in December I was in the low to mid 260's, and had been cycling between 260 and 270 for a couple of years. I'd been above 250 for probably a decade or more. Right now, I'm under 230.

When I broke my ankle at ROMS in December I expected to lose weight due to being on crutches. Past experience is that when on crutches I snack less (hard to carry snacks around) and get more exercise. That came to pass, but when I started walking with a cane, the weight started coming back.

It seemed like too good of an opportunity to waste, so I loaded loseit on my phone, set some goals, and started tracking calories in and out. It's hard to exercise enough to burn of all the calories I would like to consume, so the trick is to not consume them in the first place. My guess is that I'm going to have to track calories for the rest of my life to avoid a rebound. It's all about making the choices conscious.

In the mean time, I've been replacing my wardrobe, and my Versys has gotten noticeably quicker. :party

That's something I noticed, the NC livened up with 50lbs less to haul around.

Started in Kaiser's weight management program last October at 197. Yikes!

I've dropped 50 pounds and now I'm at 140-something - went from a size 16 to a 10.

I sunned myself in Golden Gate Park last week wearing only bikini bottoms, and didn't gross anyone out. :teeth

I bought a pull-up bar...FINALLY...,been doing them every day along with my pushups. I can now do about 4 neutral grip or 6 chin-ups.Once I can do a few more I'll switch to proper pull-ups with the goal being 10.

I lost two pounds between last week and this week. :|

Granted, my appetite has been all kinds of weird this past week but it's been extra difficult for me to get all the food I need.
