BARF's Biggest Loser, Gainer Maintainers 2016 Edition

Wow, Fred. That's quite a pace of weight loss. :wow

I'm still fat, just less fat. :laughing

FWIW, no one is ready to call me skinny. :laughing I've lost 35 since December, and you've lost more since April. That's still impressive.

You guys are doing great, it takes a lot of dedication and work to change your life like that!

Just starting...Now that my little one is 6mos old I feel like I can start working on my body after having given it completely over to another human being.

Cycled for the first time yesterday 17.5miles. Trying to eat better and redownloaded my fitness pal.

Looking to lose at least 20lbs. Which Ive never been able to do before so this will be a challenge.

Now down 55 pounds! :teeth

Anybody interested in a biggest loser hiking trip?
A meet-and-greet / motivation kind of thing?

Start in the morning, pack lunch/eat, end in the early afternoon? Morning hiking in less shady while lunch/afternoon on shady trails.

If it works out, we can hike many different bay area OSP (open space preserves) maybe 2x per month. Depending on weather, we can pick breezy/shady/etc.

Just lost another 10 pounds on another week-long backpacking trip. Nearly 70 miles across North Cascades National Park. One of our guys wasn't up to the rigors of the trip and we ended up splitting most of the weight in his pack between the other three of us. Challenging for sure.

244.1 last Monday
240.6 this morning

I finally got off the couch, ran 8 miles and mountain biked 12 miles last week

I'm hoping to keep the train rolling

I just need to get back to the gym. Got the meals thing going again, so fewer issues in that department (which, let's face it, is the big one), but got out of the gym routine the last couple months when i was doing a lot of track and travel.

Now, I'm back to the day to day routine, and being a little too lazy....

I'm finally back to running consistently after undergoing ankle surgery back in May. I couldn't run for about 8 weeks. During this time, I was forced to eat really clean, and managed to keep my weight at around 121-122.

My triglyceride levels have been running below 35 in the past year (anything below 150 is considered normal). I increased my fat intake, which seems to have sped up recovery in between training sessions. The best part: I'm not constantly hungry anymore!

I do cardio every other day (running or stairs), with 2 days of rock climbing sessions each week. This is probably the strongest and leanest I've been in over a decade -- I can knockout 3 sets of 30 (not girly) push-ups, and can even do 12 pull-ups.

This morning, I weighed in at 117 -- the lowest I've been since high school. I don't plan on losing any more weight but mainly focused on getting stronger and leaner.

Goals:

1.) run a 7-minute mile (for 10k/6.2mi) -- I'm currently running 3-4mi at around 8:15-8:20 per mile

2.) achieve #1 without getting injured -- getting old sucks!

3.) stretch more

4.) give my body the rest it needs because of #2 -- i.e. recovery week when needed

You're an inspiration Roxy, I'm not even managing to get to the gym lately....I know I need to go in the mornings, because by the time I've commuted both ways, worked all day, gotten dinner prepped, etc I'm just way to fried to get to the gym.

I've got a million excuses why I've been too tired to get up early enough for a morning workout, but the reality is that they are excuses - if it was enough of a priority it would have happened.

So just need to get that priority status going again....

Thanks AJ -- You can totally do it :)

I have to force myself to head straight to the gym after work. If I head home and get comfortable, the gym is not happening!

What keeps me motivated is doing different workouts, going to different locations (I'm a 24-Hour Fitness and a Touchstone Climbing member), and seeing results.

I miss road and trail running and won't be able to do so for a few more weeks -- let me know if you're up for a run on a weekend.

Oh, I know I can, and I will - just got out of the routine for a couple months when I had valid reasons for getting out of the routine - now it's just getting back to it :laughing But I'm well aware that the excuses are just that!

not sure which thread we're on now, haha

just wanted to check in now that I have some news. got down to 179 a few months back, but immediately bumped back up over 180+. even got up to 186 about 3 weeks ago. disgusted, I re-committed myself to the gym.

I ended last week at 179, and today I am at 177! Very happy with the progress, and also that I didn't let my setback continue to get worse. fingers crossed: I hope next Friday I can finally post that I reached my (first) goal of 175. wish me luck!

I went on vacation to Belgium for two weeks, and managed to lose both weight and fat. I've regained about half of it since returning 10 days ago, but I was truly surprised at the numbers. I hadn't been able to train, so I cut back on carbs and colories in general. We did do a lot of sight seeing and walking around (around 10K per day per various fit tracking devices in use).

I came home at 188lbs and 18% bf. I've since rebounded back to 195lbs and 19% bf. It feels so good to be lifting in again, though I've noticed that I relax my nutrition rules more than I thought I did once I start lifting.

I'd maintained for almost a year that I wanted six pack abs by the time I went to Belgium for summer vacation. I put in a lot of hard work but I failed, and that's alright. I got close, so I felt good about myself in terms of body image. I worked hard, so I felt good about my commitment and discipline. I learned what it's going to take to get to the next level (dial in the nutrition). I also learned during this trip that I can do legit pull-ups. I hadn't tried in a couple of years, and the last time I tried I needed a lot of weight assistance. During this trip I found a good spot and decided to give it a try. I managed to do 5 in a row. I was so giddfy I felt like a little girl. It was awesome.

I'm not sure I'm quite ready to go hardcore on my nutrition. That said, I'm putting in the work already, and I've a new goal for February 2017 (Florida Disney), so I do believe it's time I commit to improving my nutrition.

Keep up the great work everyone!
