BARFTRON HOMEBASE

After I left Slick's game last night I went back to Sanctuary and tipped Moxie another $7000 and ended up with a kick-ass purple Corrossive SMG that transfuses health back to me. Damn that gun is awesome!

I should be on around 9 because I promised my mom I would have dinner with her tonight and am too boring to go out to bars
 
So like....how many guns are there? I know the back of the package says a "bazillion" but I'm not sure exactly how many zeros that is.

It's pretty much infinite. No two guns are alike. The game generates guns randomly. Some of the rare guns (red text) and the Legendary (orange) guns are similar but will never be exactly the same as everybody else's. Four of us could finish a mission and end up with a rare gun reward, and none of our guns stats would match up.

A buddy and I finished up the clan feud mission the other day and got the Riastradt! SMG, both guns had the slag/electricity effect but mine had a scope and burst fire, his didn't.

I leveled up to 13, took a break, and rejoined Scorpio's level 23-24 crew. Just one hit from anything would take me down and I couldn't pick up or buy any guns or items.
 
thats only problem with game i hear, but i guess its inherent with any co op game. you really need to be within 5 lvls of your teammates to not be instadead or total OP
 
Yeah, it's good when my buddy joins my game. He has much better gear than me and just makes short work of the oppostition and I just collect free XP and money.

I'd hate to join his game and all the monsters are at his level and I can't pick up any guns because I'm not a high enough level. Well...I guess I could pick them up and just sell them.

Eh, it's not a problem, you just have multiple characters all at different levels. I've got an Assassin at Level 25, a Gunzerker at 16, and a Commando at 9.

Let's me play with anyone, and it lets me use my lower-level characters as mules. I hate throwing away Gold/Purple guns so I just kite them to the next character that can use the weapons.
 
BTW, if you guys don't know what Shift codes are. Shift codes give you a Golden Key, which you can use to open that gold chest in Sanctuary. The Gold chest yields at least a purple item, and always kick ass. Three of us opened it at Level 25 last night and got two pistols doing 750 damage, a rocket launcher that did 11000 damage, and two more pistols that were 450 explosive. The stuff is almost too over-powered.

Just signing up gives a random number of Gold key. A couple of friends got 1 key each, I got 2, and I've heard of others getting as much as 30 just for signing up. I also heard of one guy who didn't get squat. So who knows.

Currently, the only way to get more Shift codes is by monitoring the Twitter account of Randy Pitchford (Gearbox President) https://twitter.com/DuvalMagic. He usually posts in advance about when he's gonna put more codes out.

Codes are either good for a certain amount of time, say 2 hours after he posts it, unlimited redemptions. Or for a certain amount of redemptions, say 10,000 redemptions and it's gone. They're still in the testing phase of it so he's been putting out codes every other day or so, three times in the last 24 hours.

Their planning on releasing more codes either on Randy's or Gearbox's Twitter or Facebook accounts.

You can Redeem the codes from the main menu. Extras - Shift - Shift Code.
 
More SHIFT codes. Good until 6PM Pacific. You may get an error code saying "code has already been redeemed" but it should give you a key anyway.

Boy I sure do like jumping in you guys with the higher levels' games. XP just piles on like a champ for me.

Plus hiding under the shield your turret has is pretty awesome. I'm trying to get my skill points set so I get to the bottom of the guerrilla skill tree so I can have a second gun on the turret.

Not sure what one to try and level out after that...one sets off a nuke when you deploy turret, and the other lets you throw out two turrets.
