BARFTRON HOMEBASE

+1 Waited to read the REAL (consumer) reviews.....looks like an overpriced expansion pack to a game released two years ago. No thanks.

I might pick it up once it goes for $20 on Craigslist...which judging from the consumer reviews, shouldn't be too far off.

I'm digging it so far. Most of the YouTube commentators have been saying it's the best COD ever. For whatever that's worth.

But yeah, it's still COD. It's the same thing just a little tweaked here and there every year. Just like every year Madden is not much different from last year's version.

If you were to buy a new 600cc bike every year, the year to year changes would probably be not enough to justify springing for a new one every year. But if you got a new one every 6-8 years or so...yeah that new bike would feel a quantum leap better.

However. You can still ride around a 3 year old R6 and it's still plenty fast. And can still pose just as well as a new one at *$. COD? All the players and developer support follow the current game. Some say COD4 is still the best they ever made and is the most pure "COD" experience before things went too nuts with people fussing over gun camos and strike packages. But it's awful damn tough to get in a COD4 or World at War lobby that isn't hacked to shit.

blacklight: retribution is pretty fun free to play FPS on PC. reminds me a bit of killzone, style and graphics wise. really interesting system for building your weapons

What I think bothers me the most is that I feel that MOH:Warfighter is a better game in just about every respect, but I won't be able to really enjoy to it's full potential simply due to the fact that everybody on my friends list chose (or more fittingly, 'were duped into purchasing') BO2, leaving me as the odd-man out.

Hmmm...play the better game by myself and miss out on the lulz, or pay up like a fool to stay in the social circle.....? :laughing

Peace out fools. (For now.)

Navy SEAL Team 6 Members Punished For 'Medal Of Honor' Information Disclosures
Navy officials said last week that seven members of the secretive Navy SEAL Team 6, including one involved in the mission to take down Osama bin Laden, were reprimanded for disclosing classified information to the creators of "Warfighter," a modern-day, first-person shooter from developer Danger Close Games and publisher Electronic Arts Inc.

vs.

Oliver North, David Goyer, Lt. Col. Hank Keirsey And Peter Singer -- The Minds Behind Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 won't be just another military shooter; it's planned as a well written, well researched military shooter, constructed by war heroes and Hollywood hotshots alike. Men like Oliver North, Peter Singer and David Goyer have added their expertise to the game.

According to Treyarch's Mark Lamia, the list of consultants and writers enlisted by Treyarch to take on the continuation of the Black Ops series includes Dark Knight Rises story writer David Goyer. Goyer was a consultant for Black Ops 1, but came onto the project while it was already in production. As soon as production ended, Goyer and Black Ops director Dave Anthony finished Black Ops, and jumped right in to writing Black Ops 2.

MOH has more military cred behind it for sure. The GI Joe nerd in me can certainly appreciate the little touches they put in Medal of Honor like a seal's reload animation is different than another operator's style is. There's a fine line between realism and what's fun and holds people's interest though. As far as simulation, I think Arma/Arma2 still take the cake. You get hit (assuming you didn't just flat out die), you gotta stop the bleeding and get healed. No hide around the corner for 10 seconds and you're all good. Shit like that. But it's hell boring, everybody camps their ass off (kinda like HC search in COD) because it's easy to die. I think in order for a FPS to be fun, you gotta inject some Hollywood into it. My guy can run at a superhuman sprint? He can reload a belt fed LMG in just a couple seconds? If he survives a gunfight, he self heals up quickly so he's not totally handicapped for the next one? All this stuff makes for fast paced action. And that's what gets the synapses firing in the old grey matter. It's the same reason the BF3 devs made it possible to do some shit like eject from a plane, shoot an RPG while falling, and get in a buddy's helicopter that was flying below you. That kind of silly shit is totally unrealistic, but fun to try. And epic lolz if you pull that move off and get a kill too. That said, I still think MOH is a decent game that I'll put in the drive from time to time.

But it has tons of drawbacks.

Snipers are almost impossible to use unless you want to be one of those douches that run around and tries to use the Macmillan 50 cal as a one hit shotgun.

Spawn delay sucks. Yes BF3 has it too, but a life lasts longer in BF3 (since map size is so much bigger) so you don't get annoyed by it so much. And many game modes in COD are instant respawn...which satisfies the blood lust to rush right back and get revenge ASAP. The time between rounds is really long. And nothing to do while you wait. BF3 gives a lot more to look at. But COD lets you dick around with your load outs and stuff between rounds.

The menu system in MOH is so fucking fucked. Jesus what a disaster. And I thought the inventory system in DayZ was fucked. The Black Ops 2 menu system is a little convoluted compared to the first Black Ops, but it looks pleasant and is pretty seamless to get around.

Most of the killstreaks in MOH are pretty irrelevant. Some are good for a couple kills like the M32 or a guided missle. But for the most part they don't even matter and make a noticable change to help your team until you get to the Apache which is just OP like a mofo.

It still looks cool though, but doesn't feel as faced paced as COD. Just like BF3, this is a game that probably really shines on PC...where there's no 30fps limit.

Yea. It's just more of the same really. Level 14 and I'm already bored. Rank, unlock shit, get more shit, meh. It's an arms race, and folks 10+ levels above you have a hell of an advantage.

I'm pretty much playing it so I can hang with my friends and do zombies and play multi, but that's it.

So what's the consensus? Get it? Don't get it? 8-player zombie does sound fucking awesome though.

I actually haven't played COD since Black Ops. My brother gave me MW3, but I haven't even taken it out of the box. I've actually been quite happy with BF3 and looking forward to the new DLC in the coming weeks.

  • Deliver death in silence with the all new crossbow
  • Four new maps including Epicenter and Markaz Market that introduces a fresh, destructive take on urban combat
  • Three new vehicles modified to showcase ingenuity and firepower
  • New Scavenger game mode, an objective based Conquest mode where lost soldiers armed only with a pistol must search the environment to find more powerful weapons and increasing their chance for survival
  • New assignments, achievements and dog tags

The new Scavenger mode sounds fun. Too bad I suck with pistols.

Yeah doesn't prestieging become stupider and stupider each time around?

They actually made it worthwhile to prestige I think.

One of my favorite parts of Black Ops was seeing the emblem I slaved over on my gun. Now in the new one, you can't get that until you prestige or something like that. I know for sure that there are things you can have until you prestige. And it ain't just more emblems and shit.

Well remember black ops 1, you had to hit prestige 14 to get gold. MW3 there was zero benefit to prestige unless you wanted a stats reset or more custom classes.

who cares wat the rating are, im here for the lols.

+1

It's really more of the same. I got it just for the BARFTROn lols. At this point in time, it's a mindless game for most of us.

Having Said that.. 8 player ZOMBEEZ, BEeeeeeTCHES!!

MP7 with a red dot, aiming laser, and silencer=pretty awesome.

Downloading Nuketown :teeth then I'll jump on. PS3 tag: PushTheLimit. (Yeah, I know most of you chucklefucks are on Xbox. Join the dark side, we don't have RROD syndrome).

Btw, I heard you don't lose all your shit once you prestige. I spent pretty much every prestige token in MW3 on unlocking weapons, perks, etc to carry through prestiges. Didn't spend a single one on XP boosts or anything. Looking forward to BO2 letting me just keep everything. Also, FUCK YEAH for no death streaks. Let the pwnage begin mwuahahahahahahaha.

Mikey, NUKETOWN ZOMBIE is not available until DECEMBER 2012 !

I just found out after I bought the DLC season passs!!!

FUUUUUUUUU

Hope you found it JMack. There's a little sheet in the case the disc comes in with a download code for Nuketown and 2 days of Xbox live. If there's a big ol thing in the back of the box saying Nuketown is included, that paper has gotta be in there.

Oh and I was radio silent tonight because the wife was already sleeping. My man cave....errr, I mean office is right next to the bedroom. So while I'm soundwhoring away with my fancy headphones, just can't plug in the mic. Surprised I don't hear any shit for the clickity clicking of all the triggers and buttons on the controller.
