BARFTRON HOMEBASE

PSA:

If you guys manage to find an HE drop (or even a purple you want to keep) while in the DZ, do yourself a favor and pick up as much other crap to extract as possible. If you die (be it by a rogue or NPC) you do not, in fact, drop everyting on the ground. Only about 4 or 5 out of 9 random contaminated loots will drop to public for anyone to steal. The other 4-5 pieces will drop privately on the ground for you to pick up at your convenience. By filling up your backpack with other crap, you increase your chances that the piece you actually want to keep will drop privately, while all the other stuff you don't care about drop for others to steal.

As for going solo in the DZ, it's definitely is doable. I am almost level DZ50 and it's mostly solo experience. However, this is perspective from a PC player. Rogue dynamics might be different, even though we play the same game with the same mechanics, etc, but for whatever reason it seems there are more rogue players on consoles. On average, I only ever see 3-4 rogues per day, and that's up in DZ05-06 area. Even post patch, I thought there'd be more rogues but there aren't (not on PC anyway).

When trying to extract solo, try popping a flair at one extraction point, and running to another. It is a good distraction, and often times works for me. While people are running to the extraction you just popped, you'll be at the next one popping a flair. Usually by the time anyone get's to me at the 2nd extract, I've already got my stuff on the rope and doing jumping jacks.

I'm at around 170k DPS with about 56k health, almost 60% damage mitigation from armor and I still get melted if I'm not careful. So I'd recommend being extremely aware of your surroundings and continuously scan with the counter scan perk added (I forget what it's called, the one where you can't be scanned by other people). Also be aware that Rikers and Cleaners constantly fight each other, as well as Rikers and LMB, or LMB and Cleaners etc etc. It's happened more than a few times where I'll be engaged with lvl 31 elites and named enemies, only to have another faction spawn in and engage at the same time, increasing targets from 7 or 8 elites to well over 14. NOT FUN.

Be safe agents!

I just saw these. I know they're a few days old

So I managed to get to 30 without doing the dark zone yet. Is anyone interested in showing a dark zone tube the ropes?

I'm on the PS4, so any suggestions since my DZ level is out of whack with the story mode level?

I can only recommend something to you based on your gear. If you can put out at least 80k dps, have at least 50-60k health, and have at least 50% damage mitigation from the armor on your gear (check your character sheet for the stats, you can see this info for yourself), you should be OK. Less than these stats and you'll be getting hit pretty hard and not doing much damage to show for it and find yourself retreating from lvl 30 purples (note that this is if you're going into the DZ alone). I know this because I went to the DZ the moment I hit 30 and received a rude wake up call as I couldn't even handle the guys in DZ01 in my half blue half purple gear.

If you're going into the DZ for the first time, Start out in DZ01 and see if you can handle the NPCs there. Take GrizFyrFyter's advice and assume every motherf#@$r is going to try to kill you. Which, for the most part, is not true but it doesn't hurt to play it safe. There are ways to decrease the probability of other players trying to kill you. One of which, and I do this all the time, is simply not pick up any gear you find in the DZ. When you pick something up in the DZ, it puts this nice neon bright yellow bag with a hazard symbol just above your ass cheeks, painting an effective target on your back for any would-be jackass rogue to see and contemplate what jackassery to inflict upon you.

"But verz, there's this AWESOME purple or gold gun/piece of gear that dropped and I ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE IT!!!!"

Fear not, my friend. If a nice piece of gear drops in front of you and you're aware that there are other people around, leave it on the ground for later. it isn't going anywhere. It'll stay put while you move on and kill other stuff. It's completely safe from theft so long as you do not pick it up. Move on, kill more shit, come back and pick that purple/gold up once you see the coast is clear.

DISCLAIMER
If you leave the dark zone, or you join your buddy in his dark zone, that loot you left on the ground will disappear. By leaving the DZ, you risk joining another instance/server. Bye bye loot. By joining your buddy, he might be in another instance/server. Bye bye loot. If your buddy tries joining you and your server turns out to be full, the game will automatically transfer you to another instance with available slots so you and your friend can play together. Bye bye loot. Please be careful

There is no DZ rank cap.
Cap is actually at 99. Freakin crazy right? :wow I'm having a hard enough time getting to 50. I can't imagine how many hours someone put in grinding to 99. Killing rogues levels you up pretty effectively too, though.

Haven't been spending too much time in the DZ. Our little group has been busy running 6-8 man teams in the Lincoln Tunnel and Police Academy exploits and doing the dailies. It was pretty profitable, I've got almost all High-End gear now. Now that they patched all the exploits though I guess we'll be spending more time in the DZ.

What have you guys been spending your Phoenix Credits on? I ended up picking up the Vector blueprint and the Extended Magazine blueprint but can't decide on what else to pick up. I've got 3 HE weapons (Vector, Tactical SA-58, Black Market RPK-74) and all my gear is HE with the exception of the gloves.

It sucks they patched the big group glitch. That was fun.

I'm running General Assembly on hard for crafting materials.

Grab the backpack and knee pad BP

Oh noes. The police academy got patched? I've been hitting that for the past week. Finally got enough to buy the vector blueprint and reroll a HE backpack I got from a drop there. By myself, I can only do the "hard" daily. No way I'll survive the challenging ones until I get three other guys on at the same time.

Did they also patch the Russian Consulate exploit? You need a full party to do it, but that one, once you get to it, will absolutely litter the street with purple and gold drops.

Yea that's gone too I hear.

That mission was a bitch even with 8 fully-geared players. Hornet gave me 3 golds though.

Police Academy still works. Just banged it out five times in a row.

Maybe in the 1.1 patch coming up in a week or so (which adds the supply drops, gear sets, gear ratings, etc) they'll fix the exploit?

General Assembly? Holy shit man. That chopper at the end was pretty damn hard to take down when it was a level 28 elite. And I was already 30. Couldn't imagine trying to take that thing down by myself if it is a 30 now.

BTW the special weapons vendor in the base just refreshed. No more vector blueprint. He does have a 10k base damage vector for sale, but it's got shit talents. I got pretty lucky rolls with the very first vector I crafted. 25% crit chance, 46% accuracy boost talent, 20% crit damage talent, and 14% armor destruction talent.

He's got some HE knee pads and a mask that I want to get now.

And the advanced weapons vendor just refreshed too! And fuck all does he have a fan fucking tastic purple First Wave M1A. Not the best base damage or headshot bonus, but the talents are stellar...super fast accuracy when ADS and every kill has 17.5% chance to instantly refill the mag. Can you say spam tastic?

Oh whoops. The M1A from the advanced guy has 10.5% crit chance, not the balanced talent..which is too bad. That talent is fucking amazing on the M1.. The 17.5% chance to refill the mag though...that's still there. Kinda like a built in extended mag. Combine that with the one is none talent, and you might go a long time before having to actually reload that rifle.

The halo isn't so bad if you have a group that is halfway decent. I run it with randoms. Takes about 10 min, there are Phoenix credits from the two named bosses and three sets of purple gear plus some HE now and then.

I still have not figured out how to use my electronics mods.

There should be an option to throw them on your gear. But your gear needs mod slots. Some gear drops with said mod slots or you can recalibrate your gear to ditch one stat for another. You'll have to fiddle around with it to fine tune it to your liking.

seems like I have been picking up electronics mods and such the entire game and I have yet to see somewhere to apply them

I guess I can ditch them.

Running hardly any points on electronics then? Or does a lot of your gear have a lot of crit chance/damage bonuses?

Im only at about 14k electronics. When I'm in the DZ I run pulse (which bumps me up to about 90% critical hit chance) and first aid. When running missions I run crowd control (either flash bang sticky or gas mine) and a support station or smart cover (both for skill cooldown benefits, I am always ready to deploy a new one before the first one has even expired yet) based on the needs of the group. These don't require high electronics to be effective. I want to build a new Character for an electronics build, the Caduceus is a good gun for that setup.
