PSA:
If you guys manage to find an HE drop (or even a purple you want to keep) while in the DZ, do yourself a favor and pick up as much other crap to extract as possible. If you die (be it by a rogue or NPC) you do not, in fact, drop everyting on the ground. Only about 4 or 5 out of 9 random contaminated loots will drop to public for anyone to steal. The other 4-5 pieces will drop privately on the ground for you to pick up at your convenience. By filling up your backpack with other crap, you increase your chances that the piece you actually want to keep will drop privately, while all the other stuff you don't care about drop for others to steal.
As for going solo in the DZ, it's definitely is doable. I am almost level DZ50 and it's mostly solo experience. However, this is perspective from a PC player. Rogue dynamics might be different, even though we play the same game with the same mechanics, etc, but for whatever reason it seems there are more rogue players on consoles. On average, I only ever see 3-4 rogues per day, and that's up in DZ05-06 area. Even post patch, I thought there'd be more rogues but there aren't (not on PC anyway).
When trying to extract solo, try popping a flair at one extraction point, and running to another. It is a good distraction, and often times works for me. While people are running to the extraction you just popped, you'll be at the next one popping a flair. Usually by the time anyone get's to me at the 2nd extract, I've already got my stuff on the rope and doing jumping jacks.
I'm at around 170k DPS with about 56k health, almost 60% damage mitigation from armor and I still get melted if I'm not careful. So I'd recommend being extremely aware of your surroundings and continuously scan with the counter scan perk added (I forget what it's called, the one where you can't be scanned by other people). Also be aware that Rikers and Cleaners constantly fight each other, as well as Rikers and LMB, or LMB and Cleaners etc etc. It's happened more than a few times where I'll be engaged with lvl 31 elites and named enemies, only to have another faction spawn in and engage at the same time, increasing targets from 7 or 8 elites to well over 14. NOT FUN.
Be safe agents!

I'm having a hard enough time getting to 50. I can't imagine how many hours someone put in grinding to 99. Killing rogues levels you up pretty effectively too, though.
