BART train invaded by dozens of teams robbing passengers

makes sense. Assault/Battery is a crime no matter what the age.

Some progress..
BART seeking arrest warrants after identifying some teens in mob robbery
BART has identified some of the estimated 40 to 60 juveniles suspected of commandeering a train and robbing riders at an Oakland train station and is working to obtain warrants for their arrest, agency officials said Wednesday.

Detectives narrowed in on the suspects in Saturday’s extraordinary crime thanks to surveillance video captured at Coliseum Station — where the train was stopped when it was mobbed — and aboard the train itself, officials said.

The transit agency did not say how many alleged robbers have been identified, nor did it release the names or ages of the suspects.
Let's see how this goes, how many they arrest out of the whole group and if they can make the charges stick.

They were just starting to turn their life around.

Don't be cynical. Some of them were trying to get money for fares to choir practice and night school.

And the remainder were just young capitalists practicing income redistribution in a free enterprise zone.

Another attempt Tuesday?

BART police said trains are running smoothly through the system after a small group of teenagers fled the Lake Merritt station after entering without paying and heading for the platform Tuesday night.

At 7:16 p.m., a station agent saw three or four hoodie-wearing juveniles enter the station without paying, BART police Lt. Mike Hayes said.

When the group headed downstairs to the station’s platform, the station agent reported the incident to police and ordered two trains heading toward the station to continue without stopping, Hayes said.

When the group realized trains were not stopping, they turned around and fled the station. A BART police watch commander and sergeant on duty at the station also responded and carried out an area check of nearby streets, but were unable to locate the group, Hayes said.

Wait, was he a gentle giant, too? With an XL hoodie filled with skittles and burglary tools? I am so confused by all these memes.

Naw, he was kinda short, so he was "bigger than life"!

Damn, you try to jump the gate on the Underground, you'd probably get whatever fucks you have, beaten out of you. Lots of police and they didn't seem to care to fuck around.

Climber, you bring up very good points. For CCW holders, each of us are certainly different in our abilities and approaches that is for sure. This is one reason I am very much in favor of extensive training and demonstration of competency as a condition of issuance. I flatly disagree with the approaches other states take with easy issuance with little or no training. I don't think it is in the best interest of the safety of society to do so.

In our case, the 16 hour training course we took was very detailed and serious. Great importance was given to de-escalation of threats and escaping if at all possible. The point was made over and over again that the use of deadly force was only justified if there was no other choice to defend one's life. The DA (one of the instructors) and the County Sheriff seriously emphasized the moral responsibility of choosing to carry weapons and indicated that if we were not willing to take a life, to exit the course. Some did right there. The 45 minute 1-on-1 interview I had with a Deputy was also very focused and intense. If he had sensed that I was not suitable as a CCW candidate he could have recommended a denial.

Honestly, it took maybe six months before I was comfortable in carrying a weapon, I had to completely reorganize my thoughts on this. Another thing is that since I am adamant on gun safety (all of the rules all of the time), I would have to violate these to defend myself with a firearm. It took a while to wrap my head around this and I still struggle with this to some extent.

It is not an easy choice to hold a license and carry. Lots of gravity here and it is not for everyone. In reality, I seldom carry but am eternally grateful that I have the option to do so if I wish.

Just wanted to give you props for being one of the very few posters in this thread that can think their way out of a wet cardboard box

Couple thoughts:
I think it's important to have situational awareness all the time when traveling on public transit. Pick a seat that gives you time to react. Not always possible, but it seem in this case it may have been (train not completely packed).

Could be 200 people attacking, but if you found a tactically good seat to sit in, they will only be able to bring maybe 5-6 people to bear on you because of the dimensions of the train interior. So, the number of attackers beyond that is mute to some degree.

Pull out a Glock 19 and start dumping rounds into those 5-6 and the rest will scatter like cockroaches. If you need any evidence of this, just visit youtube and find videos where someone pulls out a gun and starts shooting. You will not find any where everyone starts running towards the gunman. The very notion is laughably stupid. You might find LEO or soldiers doing this though, which is why they should be appreciated and respected.

The sound of a gunshot near you in a confined space will make your innards feel like water and piss run down your leg with the quickness. It's very scary. As others noted: watching yer buddy's head explode from a 147gr hollow point will increase this feeling of panic and your legs will start to move the opposite direction whether you like it our not.

These violent criminals are not brave, they are pussies, that's why they brought 50 people with them.

Disclaimer: I am not a hero, or a tough guy, or a martial arts expert, or a law enforcement officer. I am a peace loving "live and let live" kinda fella.
But I can tell you one thing for sure: you wouldn't want me shooting at you. And, that could be possibility if you are trying to kill/rob/rape/assault me.

If a large individual takes down 2-3 kids with kicks with his back to a wall you think each and every of the 50 kids is going to risk it?

It's like the ninjas in a movie...only the 50th ninja is dumb enough to attack a man who just took down FORTY NINE NINJAS.

+1 these CCW heros don't know wtf they're talking about. 50 - 60 people? You won't even know what your gun hit before you get shot or maimed. It's funny this just came up because I just ended a day long multiple attackers scenario. All the local and federal cops agreed, comply, do not pull out a weapon.

Says the Martial Arts Hero.

In the multiple attackers scenario you completed, did the first couple attackers get their heads blown off?

Good Lord. I don't know a single cop (and I know many, was raised by two, and train with many) who would have "complied and not pulled a weapon. I am sure they are out there, I just don't know any. Maybe they were all at your judo class. :rofl
