Battlefield 4/CoD Ghosts

I need to stop reading this thread. It is making me want to install MW2 and see if anybody still plays it. Argh. I had so much fun with that game.

Just bought BF4 like 10 min ago.. Gonna try it out lol.

If BF4 uses Origin service like BF3 then I will never ever buy it. Absolutely terrifyingly awful. Thanks, EA.

Not really a fan of Ghosts, I think this is my least favorite of the entire franchise. The maps are just too damn big, I like quick pace action. These maps with open layouts, and the lack of tactical insertion, promotes camping and sniping. I spend half the match running towards the action, only to get popped by a sniper. Yeah, it's more tactical, which is good if you're into that type of gameplay, but I like fast pace action.

Navigating through the menus and creating classes is a pain in the ass. They got rid of the cool secondaries, there are only a few launchers and handguns. Inability to view people's combat record. No more HCDOM, WTF?! Spawn points are super random and the game sometimes spawns you right next to the enemy on large maps. They brought back spawn delay on HCTDM. I don't see myself spending much more time on this game.

There are a few good things about the game, the graphics are pretty awesome, however some people have said it makes it more difficult to see the enemy. The run to slide, which replaced the dolphin dive, is pretty sweet. The added element of capturing dog tags for Search and Destroy (now known as Search and Rescue) was a great idea.

The cons outweigh the pros for me, YMMV. Personally I prefer the Black Ops COD series.

Have you tried the cranked game mode? Supposed to cut way down on the camping. And the super fast running certainly keeps the action fast paced.

But yeah, I am really not liking the maps. Too god damned big and way too many "paths" and sight lines to watch for. Historically, the most popular maps have been small with only two or three choke points.

And the graphics are great. I really like some of the reload animations and that thing where the hybrid scope flicks to the side and all of the scope aiming is really slick.

I have been playing around with the idea of buying it. I want to see what the Single Play value is. I'm a cranky old man, so I still haven't gotten over the idea that a FPS is supposed to be played with a keyboard and mouse, but I feel like my PS3 is way underutilized as just a streaming video content device and the commercials for that thing look nifty.

I haven't started the single player campaign. Didn't do it at all for Black Ops 2, barely did even 1/3 of it for MW3, and about half of Black Ops.

If you're getting this game for the campaign... I dunno if is spend $60 for just that. However you can do the multiplayer thing but just make it a private match against bots if you don't want to deal with camping foul mouthed 14 year olds online. And that's got plenty of hours of fun waiting for you.

But if it's just for the campaign, which I hear is pretty short on this one, you might wanna pass.

Yeah, largely agree, though as a camper (CMPR), I kind of like...:laughing

Ghosts seems like it could be a DLC for Black Ops 2. Graphics are a little more detailed, but otherwise, gameplay is identical (good in a way, easy to learn, but also nothing new or novel).

I was on the fence and about to make the jump back into FPS' and buy Battlefield 4.

Then I realized it's just a giant glorified Battlefield 3 with better movement and maps.

For me, if the entire world isn't intractable (like BF2 was), it isn't worth it. When a designer gets to pick and choose where I can and can't go, or more importantly, what I can and can't blow up -- then it becomes an arcade game. And for arcade style FPS, I'll stick with COD.

I read an article on it and the designer said it was "on purpose" because it balanced "gameplay" and that if everything is destructible the maps can be destroyed to the point where it's not fun to play.

I call bullshit. BF2 was the best Battlefield ever made, and yes sometimes maps would be flattened but all that did was speed up the ending to the game as people had very little cover or concealment.

BF4, sorry, not buying ya. Plus, a 4 hour single player campaign? Fuck off.

Cranked was pretty cool, fun game mode to play when you're by yourself. When friends are on, we prefer more objective based games. HCDOM was one of the best game modes, and to this day, I still wonder why they fail to include it in most of the COD series with the exception of BO2.

The video says the scene from Ghosts is from the first mission. Maybe it's some sort of flashback, and this is where the story continues? If not, that's just some sloppy and lazy work. :facepalm

So, CoD Ghosts, how have people spent their squad points so far? What weapons, perks, upgrades, etc.?

How the fuck do you mute people mid game? How could they have overlooked this simple feature?

Is there any benefit to downloading Ghosts versus buying the box (aside from avoiding the store)? The price for the download appears to be the same as the in store price. Do you get any extras by downloading?

I think the only semi-advantage of having the actual CD is that in case of any issue with your PS3, you can easily re-install. And I'm sure you can re-download in that event, so really, no advantage.

Download should mean no tax?

download means you don't really own it because they can pull it from the D/L store at any moment.

Really? I mean, if it's associated with your account, you don't think a person could re-download? Also, why would they pull it?

Isn't it under the list when you push start? Options, leave game, etc?

Edit-It is.
