okay - who voted for bob's? those things are a giant pile of slop. :green

You shut yo mouth. My first love was Bob's when I lived in Fremont. Then my parents moved to Lake Tahoe and I ate the Awful Awful and told myself, "Okay this is the best burger I had". Three years ago I moved to Hayward and tried Val's and told myself the same thing. But recently I went to the Chop Bar and end of story.

I think I went to Bob's like a month ago in Pleasanton because I happen to be in area and still think their giant burger with no cheese is still good.

lol - yeah, i know people who LOVE them - maybe at 3am when you're stoned and drunk. but OMG they are so gross! got tricked into eating one once. it takes, like, 45 napkins to soak up all the sludge. will NEVER happen again. :laughing

A couple of years ago I had my first A&W burger in probably 10 yrs. When finished I commented that its was surprisingly good. So about a month later I dropped in again for another but this time I couldn't help but remember why I gave up on them.
Sometimes your calibration is off and it takes more than one to reset. I concluded that I went into that first burger with such low expectations they were easly beat. Second time I was expecting a good burger but got exactly what I should have expected, pure shite.

The Counter makes a great burger, but the Parmesan fries are the real reason to eat there.

It's a chain.:-(

Didn't know it was a chain. Was reading in some article and they mention The Counter in San Mateo. So, I thought I would include it into the poll.

I got over my snobbishness with chains. They can be good or bad

Hall of Flame by State:thumbup

Belly Burgers on Geary:thumbup

Showdogs on Market:drool<<<my personal fav! they only have 1 burger on their menu...it's all they need!

thinkin about it now, i may have to derail plans to take the kids to the movies tomorrow:teeth at the very least i'll be there next week sometime!

Have you been to Pearl's, across the street?

My vote goes for The Counter. The only legitimate reason to go to Palo Alto :twofinger

Burger. in santa cruz. They have a burger made with donuts as the bun. They win. Also good beer selection.

+1 on the awful awful in Reno. So freakin good. Daves burgers in fairfield is amazing and so is Buds burgers in Vallejo. Haven't found a really good burger in Hawaii yet.

no...maybe soon though. my kids like in n out and so do i and the parking where pearls and Showdogs is gives me the heebeejeebees something aweful.

The east bay is not well represented on the list.
Barney's on College in Oakland.

Barclay's just up the street makes a good burger too (and has good beer)

I agree, but in all fairness, the poll would probably exceed the number of options if all good burger joints were listed.

I'm going to add in a place I never expected to have a good burger, Forge in Jack London.

Where is a good place to get a lamb burger?

Marin Sun Farms has an amazing lamb burger. I think they do goat, too.

I LOVE Bud's Burgers in Vallejo. I'll do a trip to Vallejo just to get one. Burgers on the Edge on Kapahulu was really good when it first started, I think it's a Panda Express now.
