Best handling Harley?

So... handles pretty well eh? :laughing
That and the Storz thingy-cool to "mob" around on(for a little while), handling- NOT part of the equation. :party

Never said anything about handling. Beau likes Nightsters so I was showing him mine. :thumbup

If you're gonna make witty comments please make sure you read first but, I know reading comprehension not be a strong point on BARF.:laughing

Here's my 2000 sporty converted to a street tracker. I built mine relatively cheap and did a few things to add ground clearance. I put sportster "sport" legs and shocks on too which can be had pretty cheap and make a big difference.
Bridgestone BT045 tires are great and are a 2 compound Bias-ply.

Heres mine!

:x Been a while since i posted here.....actually years. I used to ride a Ninja 650R and a 09 R6. It doesnt handle as good as my previous bikes but its more comfortable ever since my back injury.

The Street Rod was a different animal. That was the VROD with mid-controls, right? That was a sweet ride. It handled very well, had plenty of ground clearance, great brakes and a strong motor. No wonder H-D killed it.:teeth

Tell us how the mid controls compensate for the excessive rake and heavy steering.

Harley just released info on a new XR1200 with upgraded shocks and forks. Probably fits the bill (even the old one did though I am sure).

ON the same bike (the street rod), they steepened the steering head and jacked the rear... So you still had the long wheelbase but significantly less rake to reduce the steering effort required

If they pulled the rake in, where did they put the radiator?

edit:

Just did some searching around and it was reduced from 34/39 to 30/32 so it was reduced to Softail Custom territory but nowhere near Electraglide specs.

Although it's not a Harley, have heard good things about
the handling and performance of the Triumph Thunderbird:

I've seen this guy up on Grizzly Peak the dude can rip it up.

What kind of exhaust setup is that?

Thats a Hooker header. I destroyed the original muffler a long time ago after dragging it through a million right hand corners, so I had a muffler shop make the extension piece and bought a cheap supertrapp for a muffler.
Its nothin fancy but it doesn't scrape:laughing

whats the handling diff between a FXR and a FXRXT?? I hear the fxr = Rubber mounter super glide and fxrxt = super glide "t" sport. Whats the diff mean??

I've heard the same rumors about some kind of built-in "offset" in the FL (touring) series of bikes. I can confirm it's existence in my 2004 FLHPEI. Any G loading in a corner over 85 mph caused a wobble. Riding over a painted line while leaned over also caused the same thing. In 2009, H-D strengthened the chassis, beefed up the suspension, went to Brembo brakes, widened the rear wheel a massive 2 inches and changed to a 17" front wheel. oh....and added a 6th gear to the tranny. Hell, they even went to a fly-by-wire throttle. For my model of choice, the FLHPE (copbike), they even threw in ABS, an engine oil cooler and the bigger 103 cid motor. Guess what I did? Yup, went straight to the dealer and traded in my 2004 for the exact same model and color 2009. Guess what????? No more weeble wobbles.:)

Then person who told me about it is a Road King owner. So there you have it - it is written here on the internet; therefore it must be true. :thumbup

The OP said the best Harley for handling and comfort. Isn't that the touring class like the Road Kind and Road Glide? Maybe not the best handing of available Harleys, but a good mix of comfort and handling?

Jdub's super potatoe handles pretty damn well. It's a sportster with a lot of suspension work done to it. I've chased him down a couple of twisty roads, and you definitely have to be on your game to hold on to his wheel.

Glad you finally showed up, Jeff. :thumbup

Best handling Harley...(course there are opinions on what qualifies as a Harley) Could go to the 2011 XR-1200X.

At least it comes with very competent suspension (I think this Sportster costs like $13, 000 bucks).
