bitcoins

Since everyone compares crypto to the dotcom boom, I'll share my thoughts.

We are now in the AOL stage. Coinbase is AOL, bringing crypto to the masses. There's Netscape and all the other players you can feel free to make analogies for.

Just remember those old untouchables from the early web days are either extinct or conpletely unrecognizable today.

god i love the internet.

yea this month is going to be messy. just chillax a bit. theres alot of bad news in the crypto market world right now...but also alot of promising news. and some of that promising news is happening as we speak, and its being successful. lets not forget bitcoin is up 1100% from this time last year. say it again. 365 days ago BTC was 920 USD. its just unfortunate bad news carries way more weight in the way of market effect than good news

so cmon guys and gals. any stock that does that type of growth is going to be uhhhh volatile ...

Bitcoin is not a stock.

Unless I am missing something, it seems rather pointless. While transactions costs/speed can be an issue with fiat, there is nothing inherent that makes moving fiat around expensive or slow. Tether also requires a level of faith that the it is actually backed by the US dollar, if tether goes bankrupt you could be really screwed.

Already quite a few options for fast, low cost transactions of Fiat currency. The British banking system has near instant transactions available.

It's a great spot to park crypto when the market goes bonkers.

No, i just poke my head in here because it interests me and maybe ill learn something. I dont know much about any of this stuff. What's tether?

Tether is a coin that is the USD standard in the crypto world. Supposedly each USDT is backed by USD.

So for all the guys that have a nano- why cant I send btc to the segwit address on the nano? I keep trying and it gets rejected from Kraken. It will only allow a legacy withdraw address. All the research tells me that it is cores fault. How is this possible when we already have segwit activation on core. The only way for me is to send to legacy then transfer to segwit. Thats not how it should work imo.

Also get ready for a downturn. Put in some incredibly low purchase orders in and you may hit them in the next few days. Im talking low like 7500. Moas is telling his newsletter subscribers we will go low and to be ready.

There is an option to change it to a segwit wallet. Let me know if you can't find it.

Just sold some btc for 11,375. Gonna buy back for lower hopefully. If not, oh well cant win them all.

We have the same in Germany as well.

In other news, some people are predicting another crash around January 26th.

Yup time to put it into tether and hang on for the approaching storm.

Good luck everyone.

I have $68 in Binance just chilling.

XVG or TRC (tron) ?

Gets me about 1000 of each. I already have 1000 trx but bought the damn stuff at .17 :wtf Buying 1000 more gets me to .11 a roughly. Only need it to climb back to say .13 to break even.

I know about the nano segwit wallet. My question is why can't I send btc from kraken straight there? The segwit address looks to be invalid to kraken. The only way to transfer to segwit is to go legacy then send to the segwit chain. That would mean two fees. This is not exclusive to kraken. I had to do the same with litecoin from coinbase.

From what I read, Nano only allows Litecoin on legacy. And then you can switch it(not sure why).

As for bitcoin that is very strange, I never had that happen from Bittrex or Binance. It was no problem going into the segwit account. Stupid question but is your firmware 100% up to date?

Can we go back to the discussions on Wallets?

I have purchased LiteCoin on CoinBase, which gave me a LTC quid like the one in Panthera's signature.

I *thought* that was the wallet address where the LTC is stored and I have to give that value to transfer from or TO my wallet.

I *think* you are transferring from the coinbase wallet to another wallet provider because that provider has lower exchange fees.

I'm only buying at the moment and haven't had to transfer anything so I have no experience to lean on.

If someone had a primer already posted on this can you point to the post or page? We are 110 pages in so far..

TIA- Mike

JP is transferring it from an exchange (like coinbase) to a hardware wallet, the Nano Ledger.

Both have separate addresses. I don't think he is doing it for lower fees, instead he is storing his coins in a safe place as exchanges are not safe to keep coins.

Hm, ok, thank you!

I found https://coinsutra.com/best-litecoin-wallets/ and think I will use Exodus for now. I only have a few coins right now to try and learn this.

Correct Honda. All my research says that its because coinbase has not upgraded there system for segwit. They keep saying that they are trying but I find that hard to believe. They are probably doing it on purpose to charge higher fees imo.

I think we may head down to under 8k. But I bought this dip so I really dont care. Im trading what I spent only a few thousand on and only doing it to increase my bitcoins not usd. Those gains will come eventually and I want more bits for the same few grand I initially spent. I did get more ltc today as well. Ether is definitely here to stay so I should be getting more of them too.

Would anyone be interested in a barf group chat or Telegram?

Not sure if it would be easier to just keep it in this thread but thought I'd throw it out.

This doesn't look like a good time to buy bitcoin or ether. They're both around their big psychological numbers and it seems like it'd be wise to wait a bit and see what the market decides. You'd buy now if you thought they were going to bounce at 10k/1k, but I'd want a little confirmation first.

My guess is we’re in for a year of so if bumping along between maybe 7 and 12k. If you look at the last spike/bust, it went to $1250 and then crashed to like $275, eventually settling down around $400 and did nothing for a couple years before rallying again.

But there’s much more widespread awareness and discussion now, so who knows.
