bitcoins

Good news on GBTC. No complicated K1 to deal with, no incurred expenses that are tricky, no K1, just a trust letter detailing unit holder share of expenses on day by day basis. :)

Layman’s terms? My dad put money in gbtc before the split.

Basically means that GBTC has expenses in the fund that you can write off as investment expenses. Probably not much, I doubt it will be $4 for me. He'll get a note from the broker on where to go to the website to download the company Trust letter.

If it was a k1, they can be major pains in the ass to file. Plus they usually come late, usually after you have filed taxes, and force you to file an amended return. So it's good news and easy math.

Bitcoin breaks out above $10,000 since the drop...signs of better times or just a dead cat bounce?

I'd like to say it seems as though the market has stabilized, if just a bit, from the huge swings we saw earlier this year.

To me it is market stabilization. IMO there was a lot of concern with governments banning crypto but it seems most are just going to roll out regulation. That and the whole typical January dip that happens.

I'm curious to see if Chinese New Years will affect pricing. A lot of people pointed out Lunar Near Year as the precursor to the bear run we just had.

Eh kind of funny calling it stabilization considering it's a purely speculative asset with no fundamentals backing up any particular price.

This was addressed to me. I agree, but it is all we have to go on! I am just looking at macro economic factors. I really think a lot of people got scared when the global governments started putting their $.02 in as I think people thought there would be massive banning.

This doesn't seem to be the case so I think that money is starting to flow back in. But the market as a whole is speculative...

That's fair.

well, two weeks ago ltc had dropped about $100. two weeks later it gained ~$120. If this is considered market stabilization, I don't know if I have the stomach for it.
