Bought a House - Moving to Concord. Crazy!!

Totally more cost effective.

But people like to justify their vehicle purchases by lying to themselves and others about why they "need" it.

I've got a buddy with a $90k modified truck. Says he needs it to access his property, and do whatever other bullshit things.... His son gets up and down to this property every day in his ratty ass Prius no problem.

I keep telling the guy: just say you want your toy cause it makes you giggle. At least that's real. Stop making up dumb reasons!

But no, gotta have that extended cab, extended bed, 4wd, 7L gas guzzler. You know, for the Home Depot runs!

Haven't read many posts online someone complaining about their truck and space. I've certainly read more wishing they opted for the 8ft bed vs short bed or wishing they had 4wd vs 2wd. Better to have and use it than not have it and need it.

Totally do it, make sure you buy the dually.

I mean, how is a guy supposed to move the raw materials for his personal ammunition depot around, right? :twofinger

Good luck with the new pad Dubs. I hope it is a happy home for you all.

Seriously! I tried remodeling to bathrooms in my rental townhouse the previous summer and it was SUCH a pain with the suburban. Getting tools out, making several trips. Can't haul things taller than 42" inches. I also don't have nor the space for a trailer. Truck also allows the fam to do more camping. It's not a big a house btw, only 2100sqft. And the work that I went over with my dad/contractor today, yikes. Gonna be an experience. Ordering vanities and flooring soon.

my daughter in laws BF has a big ass F150 jacked to the sky with big ass tires. well he drives 100 miles each way to get to work but he uses a beater Honda. Well guess what beater Honda got a flat tire last night and his spare is flat also. So he is pissed because today he had to drive to work in his truck and gas prices ain't cheap even here. :rofl

As if we have EVER been able to sway his decision making in any way :laughing

Hmm....I'd be living in a 1 bedroom shed in Bakersfield with 6 motorcycles and 2 dogs if I followed all the BARF "advice" on here ;)

I hope this post is never relevant to your future self dubby. :thumbup

Btw, I think most households are well served by a pickup in the family fleet. The scale of said pickup is debatable but, I don't think you are crazy for wanting one. I would hold out for a 4 cylinder Ford Ranger with a ladder rack on it.

That is exciting :D Our first home is close to Todos Santos. It was a foreclosure and we put in a lot of sweat equity. The '92 F250 with the 7.3L IDI long bed served it's purpose during that time.

My mighty Toyota T100, which was a full-size truck when made and puts in a lot of work, seems like a toy compared to the modern full-size trucks. Luckily, I was born well-endowed, so I am not bothered by its small size. :x

+ Lifted, 4x4

I would like to clarify I'm in favor of a work truck for home remodel and general homeowner tasks. 4 door short bed (they're all short beds these days, though a long bed 3/4 or 1 ton is probably out there holy huge have fun parking that) ain't a work truck. Mine is a '67 ford f100 2wd manual transmission.

I had a 1/2 ton 4 door brodozer I bought from a friend who was upgrading brodozers. Hated it. All the downsides of a car with no trunk, without the upsides of a real truck bed

Ditching a 'burb for a truck 'because we can afford it'. Eh. Remodels are never cheaper than you expect

Congratulations!! Moving in the summer is the best for kiddos for sure

Off of Cowell. I’ve always liked the area but worried about schools. We’ll do the elementary which I think is El Monte and then figure out middle and high school.

imo figure it out asap, meaning budget for private school or see if there's any charter school options nearby (and how to get in). Our kids were in public for elementary, private for middle and high school for the same reason, the assigned middle and high school isn't that great. Private school is not cheap but better than trying to buy too much house in the better middle/high school area down the street. Turned out the better public schools are crowded as heck these days and resources are tight. Private school seems like the right choice for us.
For your family who knows, but you should plan for it soon. A buddy bought a home in a not so good school district in San Jose, planned to move to a better area once their 2 kids were 5-6 yrs old...never happened. Kiddos did not do well in elementary and I think the wife took a job as an apartment manager where she could live in one of the units, and the kids got to attend school (better one) near the apartment complex.

Another option is after school tutoring. Here in Pleasanton it seems there is one on every corner and there are plenty of parents hanging around the doors in the evening.
Of course these same kids probably don't spend a lot of time playing sports but would you rather have a kid who can't throw a curveball but has a Stanford quality GPA, or the opposite?

I actually do live this way and I am done with it. Give me a lovely home, I'll keep the 2 dogs but sell most of the motorcycles.

On demand natural gas water heater w/recirc works great in our 3 bath home. Our previous AquaStar lasted 25 years. Rianni now.

Yes for sure get that gas water heater replaced before you become an involuntary eco-terrorist.

No joke, they are way better
