Wow, hella drama up in here
I love the name barf, love the double-bird mascot. When I refer to the site to a non rider I say "barf: bay area rider forum" and no one seems to dismiss it automatically as a juvenile site.
1- I want to say that banjoboy is an awesome fellow to ride with and chill with. I was actually quite surprised when I first met him in person as the redneck shtick was gone and replaced by a polite and friendly gentleman who then proceeded to dust me in the dirt on his sport bike with balding tires. Please forgive his online persona- I do think he is worth learning from/knowing.
2- Barf is a wonderful resource and while there are some known trolls I didn't see many in this thread. Most of these "offenders" are generally tame from what I've seen of their posts on other threads. Not that that helps necessarily, just sayin. (As a female) while I see some sexist comments I personally haven't experienced the misogyny others have. Or maybe I gloss right over it, I do hang out with a lot of boys in real life. As I'm sure you know from hanging with males in the cockpit, boys never fully mature
twofinger) so I don't take anything said on here seriously, as I don't think the majority of comments are genuine attempts to insult. There are a few men on here with obvious/serious problems with women but they are few, in my opinion.
3- Many of the people offering to ride with you (Thumperx, Canyon Dancer etc) I've met in real life and I think you would enjoy meeting them and riding with them. Mark I know less personally but Gwynne (thumper) is a good friend and awesome person.
4...I think I was going somewhere with this but my slight ADD has taken over, lol. So anyways I'll end with, you sound like you're well established with your own friends but I do recommend coming to a rally (the spring rally is May 15-17) if you want to expand your riding circle and meet some of the great people of barf. The real trolls don't ride that far
