I just made my own and I have to say it was delicious!

Back story: I'm trying to put myself into Ketosis in order to drop 20 lbs over the next 2 weeks. To do this, I have to drop my carb intake to 20g or less and increase my fat intake. This will trigger my body to stop burning glucose and start burning fat. Crazy - yes, does it work - yes.

Bulletproof coffee is just regular black coffee with 2 - 3 tbsp of organic, non salted, yellow butter. Add coconut oil if needed and blend the piss outta it. Once done you should have a frothy deliciously smooth coffee.

It's like drinking a less sweet caramel drink.

Has anyone else done this?

Go to a truckstop. Ask a driver for some gofast. Snort a big ole line of it. Don't eat for days.....

Ok, just kidding. How is that going to work out for energy and stamina? I lost a lot of weight (due to cancer and not being able to get food down), and now my stamina and energy levels are very, very low, 50-60%. Down to 158, from 229 over several months, now right about 190, it just wasn't healthy for me to drop so much weight, so fast.

I always found it hard to believe that you could basically throw your metabolism into an overload state for any period of time without any long-term harm.

Every short-cut or magic pill has a price.

I've got a couple friends who do the bullet proof coffee thing, but they aren't trying to lose weight as far as I know, its just how they like their coffee.

:laughing old school

Coffee: black. Butter is for toast.

My wife drinks it almost daily but it's her own recipe. I think it's butter, coconut oil and maple syrup. :dunno

I've tried it and it's not bad; just too much work for me in the Nutra-bullet.

There is zero science behind it working.

So you can believe whatever you want, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Bottom line: It's almost certainly a bad idea. Ultimately, it seems to me that Bulletproof Coffee is a scheme to get you to buy some very expensive magic beans. There are better ways to get healthy, and there are tastier was to drink coffee that don't involve coating the inside of your blender with butter every morning. Keep it balanced, folks.

so, you only drink this every day for 2 weeks? no other food/drink?

20 lbs in 2 weeks? wow.

I won't judge. more power to ya. good luck, and let us know how it goes.

No it's just a wake up drink. And just read the link I gave.

I recommend the Laser Proof Ninja Tea...it's tea with chocolate sauce. My science says it's good.

I love the stuff. Only grass fed butter tho. It's the only way coffee actually works for me.
My coach is on that diet and he swears by it for energy/ weight etc
I personally don't consume much carbs or sugar. Just High protein / greens
But im not that strict to get ketosis
Joe rogan also swears by it
I thought it was another fad diet but it seems to work

Ya the dude who marketed the " bullet proof" is a scam. But that was for his "special " beans
The concept of the butter/oil in coffee is legit tho

I don't think happy highwayman is truly happy

It's completely irrelevant in regards to whether or not I'm correct. If you want people to tell you how amazing your opinion is without thought go talk to your mom.

If it's "legit" please explain how it works and why the science in the article is wrong.

alright, so it's basically a no- to low-carb diet with a funny coffee in the morning. I have doubts that it's the coffee + fat + mid-chain triglycerides that is the key: it most likely is the elimination/massive reduction of carbs in the diet. It would be equivalent to the south beach diet phase 1.

OP, I basically did this last year. I dropped 8 lbs in two weeks, then have maintained a (relatively) low-carb lifestyle. I've lost another 10, at about 1 pound a month. But it isn't magic. I've simply taken the massive amount of extra carbs out of my typical everyday American diet. I eat rice, bread, pasta, potatoes, and sugary desserts about once a month each. I used to eat at least one of those things every single meal. Some may call it a diet; I call it a lifestyle change towards healthier eating.

Add in exercise 3+ days/week, and a mild cutback in beer (my major source of carbs), and I feel good.

20lbs in two weeks? guess it depends on how big you are.

good luck.

If you're losing 20 lbs in two weeks you're already pretty overweight. Fat people lose a lot of weight in the first month and then it slows down. I guarantee if you're a normal weight you'd not lose anything close to that.

Perhaps eat healthy and exercise instead of fad dieting OP.
