Buy Gpro now!

You know how this industry is, we're all connected one way or another and we whore around worse than salesmen at a car lot. Oil and gas usually dips in winter and taking a dive this early isn't a good sign. I think they'd make for a good short, unless someone actually tries to buy 'em up. Would take a looooot of coin to do that though.

I got out of that business over a decade ago. I'd seen the 20 yr guys and that just wasn't really my bag.

Do miss some of it though.

so no thread on the ending of quantitative easing from anybody?

oh sure..pimp slapping the crap out of my REITs. I get out of this with my skin intact, its all going into healthcare mutuals till I spy the next Tesla or Visa.

AGNC NLY ARR ARI STWD. zigged when I should have zagged. Everythings pretty much at BV,
but they've all got cash, so the divs look strong. rough patch, and holding.

Unless something specific is happening, I'd expect the typical small Friday sell off. Down a maybe percent early, with most recovered towards the end of the day.

I would agree but tomorrow is also options expiry day - I've read something like 11% of options expire tomorrow

not sure how that will affect price

I haven't spent much time understanding options, but I think that generally when they expire, transactions are void..?

I'm not sure how it works but only XX amount of shares are being optioned at any one time, this releases 11% more back into the pool

that's my gist of it

I play with options but only recently and with small dollars - GRPN right now ;)

Do you have a connection to GRPN? This looks like kind of a pivot time for them. A few tests in the high 5's, but higher hi's (post June anyway). Looks like 2/3 of the way into an ascending triangle.

Anyway, a friend trades options and I tried to glean a little from him. Aside from the fact that I think it's a middleman scam pitting people against each other while taking a trade cut, I believe their potential value runs like a bell curve, having little value at the beginning and end of their life cycle?

Will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow. Should be a pull back, but how much is from today's gain, how much if from typical Friday stuff, and how much is from expiring options? Though we'll never know, it would be nice to know. :)

no professional connections, I was keyed into them through an "investment" group I am members of -

I used to be a marketer and while I still am in marketing, I'm on the product side now and exclusively on the downstream marketing side and more specifically on the sales data side.

Why do I say this?

GRPN just went through a big marketing conversion from a "here are the deals we will offer you" to a "what deal do you want"

internal they have become an upstream marketing company selling to the business

(I realize my upstream concept in this terminology is different from traditional)

I think it's a better business model for them

finger on the pulse - I understand what they are doing/did as it's the data, on some level, I deliver regarding my companies products.

they ended the day at $6.25 with a 52 l/h of 5.18/12.42

Yeah, seems like it might be a good time to get in. I've had six hunnert sitting in my scottrade account that I don't care about, was looking for a cheap stock to buy just for fun. I think I'll give this a go. :)

GRPN earnings estimates WAY up for next quarter..currently short 13+% of float. PPS flatlined. could be a goodie..

If you are looking for a cheap stock that might move check out GOGO. They make internet to wifi devices for commercial planes so you can still Facebook and Zynga poker while flying!

BTW thanks everyone for keeping this thread cool to read. I know in the past a lot of investing threads have turned to shit because everyone thinks they are the best at investing and at the same time believes no one else knows what they are talking about. It's good to see everyone sharing info and getting along.
