Can I rant for just one post?

Dear LEOs:

My front wheel is stopped, but the rear wheel is still up in the air spinning, am I still ok?

That is because you are in one of the "other bad guy not me ruining riding for the rest of us low hanging fruit dirtbag wearing HJC helmet not BMW" categories that he already listed.

Doing a track stand while on a motorcycle is FUN!

And I'll be the first to admit that sometimes my front wheel moves a little while I'm supposedly stopped. But that's usually side-to side movement while waiting for the cager IFO me to GTFO of my way. :laughing

If I can ride away without getting a ticket, I'm not going to begrudge the LEO. In my mind it's a win situation all the way, as he/she probably needs/needed schooling on how bicyclists/riders can do track stands and that having both feet on the ground at a stop isn't a legal requirement. It's cessation of forward movement of the front wheel that counts.

No, it doesn't. But lots of folks think it does.

Apparantly alot of judges do too though. Putting a foot down apparantly is too much effort on the part of some, to be compliant with any perceived legal interpretation that might exist in the VC. My point is that if you don't want to put a foot down, then expect to waste some time in the traffic court system fighting it or wasting breath on BARF ranting about it wanting for things to go your way.

Even though he didn't get a ticket - would be ok if you got fucked with everyday? Pulled over - waste 15 minutes of your time being FORCED to kiss ass to some cop who may be a psycho?
.

What the fuck are you blabbering about? Where in his post did he say he gets pulled over everyday?

There is nothing in the CVC that requires a rider to put their foot down.

That said....

PUT YOUR FUCKING FOOT DOWN. Take the time to do more than casually glance for cross traffic while you're focusing on your balance. Yes, many of us can pause for several seconds while stopped without putting a foot down - bully that you're one of us. That doesn't make it safe, doesn't make it prudent, and your passenger is worth more than a cursatory glance down a side street for her safety.

And your "I know better what I'm doing than anyone else on the hill" attitude is going to get you real far on the street. Good luck with that, and good luck with giving attitude to LEOs.

I don't think they think it is codified, but that they think one can't stop without putting down a foot.

Cop just wanted his nuts scratched, obviously. Fuck all that.

Welcome to bay area police. Move to the hills, those boys have better things to do than fuck with people to try and inflate their ego that their bigger sister smashed to bits with her fists back in highschool.

I've posted threads about my stopping at stopsigns. I do the same thing. I even stop without hitting the clutch. Yes, wheels stop and resume quickly.
absolutely true, local cops are very lenient around here.

You just proved my point. You view me as a rich prick who chooses to ride the bike going along with that image. Do you look at the rich pricks on BMWs as being irresponsible squids doing wheelies, running stop signs, and terrorizing the general public all the time? If so, then I stand corrected. If not, then you will understand why I was pissed about being harassed.

And to your earlier comment, you should know better than to espouse to know anything about me or what I choose to ride. I bought a $25k bike as my main transportation as opposed to buying a cage- it doesn't mean I'm made of money. I think my rep around here and on any other forum or in public in general would easily prove that I'm anything but some bling bling larry only concerned with how I can look cool. I bought that bike as it is a nice do it all machine.

What is it with cops NOT giving tickets??

Buncha ruthless jackbooted nazi stormtroopers running amuck like that NOT giving tickets!

Are we in 1940 Germany here??

Jesus fuck, we must stand up for our rights and demand tickets!

Cops are fishermen... they throw their hook in and reel in whatever is on the line. They don't care if it's a trophy fish or a little fish, they just put it in the basket and cast again.

I don't know a thing about what was discussed in the police forum, but can tell ya that if you don't drop a foot from a moto at a stop sign, the probable cause is created to be detained.

I repeat, where do you come up with this crap? Please stop. You should have said "I don't have a clue as to the truth, but let me share my opinion anyway." Please stop.

It is clear that you:
a) do not understand the definition of 'stop'.
b) do not know what the C.V.C. actually states.
c) do not have any idea (based in reality) of the legal definition of probable cause.

When you pass off your uninformed opinion as fact, you are part of the problem not the solution. Please stop.

I fucking love you, Tim. You wanna fuck my sister?

Subject chooses to ride sections of road that are currently under intense scrutiny due to recent vehicle injuries and fatalities.

Subject chooses to walk the fine line of a legal stop by not putting foot down. FWIW Personally I believe you made a legal stop without dropping your foot. With a little practice and balance it's easy to do. Depending on your perspective it might not look like a full stop to other observers.

Nearby LEO takes notice and wants to have a little chat with subject.

Subject wishes to educate LEO about his years and years of prior motorcycle experience. LEO listens, yawns and dreams of next donut.

At the end of the chat LEO tells subject is free to go with a simple warning.

Subject thinks about it and feels the need to rant about this injustice.

Have a donut and try to relax.

Ummmm, you're gonna have to help me with this post. I don't understand your point?
1) you make it sound like scanning all possible areas of where I might get hit at an intersection with a passenger while doing a track stand is a bad thing? Sorry, I'll stop working on skills now. I am ATGATT and actually have had to force her to be out of respect for her as well as my family and hers. You make it sound like I am trying to be cool for just having an idea of how to ride a bike. I'm trying to convey that I was disapppointed for being harassed for an infringement (whether or not putting a foot down is a legal stop not being debated) when there is a whole lot more productive traffic enforcement that can be done.

2) when did I say I was superior to anyone? I specifically said I don't like to go on the "hill" due to the general stupidity exhibited up there. I've gone pretty far with my fairly humble attitude on the street in that I've put about 35,000 miles on 2 wheels in the last 12 months, so please tell me if I'm doing something wrong.

3) I obviously was a real disrespectful jerk to the pig and got a ticket accordingly for it.

Again my point was not to say that "I'm cool b/c of the bike I ride" or that "I can go faster than anyone" or that "all cops are limp dicked losers". My point was that why should the cops bother me on what has already in this thread been described as a technicality? It seems to me that he could be spending my tax dollars gaining revenue from someone truly being a danger to the driving public. My "infraction" (whether or not it actually was one) is a technicality. Doing a wheelie leaving that parking lot, truly running the stop sign, going triple digits on any of the roads in the area are all examples of valid reasons to be stopped. Pull over one of those folks and stop bothering me. That was my point. As usual everyone has their biased opinions on how I am viewed and my reactions etc. I got my rant out and I feel better. Thanks to the internets for that.
