Yep, Busy Little Shop has the same info, I learned first hand.
It seems I have been replacing chain only, in the 8 to 10k range, street use,
before it starts chewing the sprocket teeth.
Worked out well, up to 60 K miles, countershaft sprocket showing wear,
Then I replaced chain & sprockets.
WD-40 to clean, Chain Wax when the rollers go shiny.
18 K on a chain, way into daily maintenance/adjustments, toasting your sprockets.
I used to use heavy grease heated to liquid, and soaked, if I took the time.
Usually it was engine oil, from an oiler, hated the fling off .
All this before o/x ring chains.
I'm running regular chains now, because of chain size, TW for dirt only, mini too small for sealed.
