It's arguable - is a car really from its country of origin if it's made from mostly foreign parts?

Just like Mustang vs. Camaro, there's another argument that's been done to death.

I think currenty the two most "American made" cars you can buy are the Camry and Accord.

I'm fully a product of my self created world.

We both are. I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm saying we have very different priorities. I don't track cars (yet... the 951 will definitely see track time when I have a steady income again), and I'd rather take the slow line with the nice long drift you described above. There are plenty of people that share yours and there are plenty of people that share mine. I'm just bitter at the auto press for misleading me.

It sucks it takes this long to get here Marc! Ah well...I totally see your point now. On topic: drove one of the Genesis coupes for the GF and really wanted to like it cause they're oh so sexy from the outside; the suspension felt like a go-kart (like the RX-8) and that was a deal breaker...so reflecting on that, I see your position with more clarity.

Ya. If someone doesn't have pics of their own car that is hopefully a Mustang or Camaro...spare me.

For me, it's not a Euro/ Japanese/ US thing...it's a value thing. Best bang for the buck and in my world, that means low lap times.

260hp into 2800lbs, with real seats, suspension, and brakes for under $10k. With room for skis, a bicycle, or a pair of moto wheels in the back. Includes a popped collar, a pair of wayfarers, and a coke habit. Just needs a quart of oil every 500miles. And a careful eye on the timing belt. And you can't find tires in stock sizes anymore. Or spare parts.

I miss her so. I love that idle. :(

I was just looking at one of those...my fav value Porsche. And I might know of a place where spares are aplenty, in the bay no less.

Easy salvage in Emeryville is great if that's who you're thinking of, though I've generally just picked up new parts when available from Pelican or Sunset. I've been having a blast in it since January. I can't believe how depressed the market is for them - I got a pretty unique deal on mine, but even without that, I can't think of another sub-$10k car I'd rather have except maybe an E36 M3.

The car has actually been very trouble free after replacing the alternator, battery, master cylinder, DME, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, and every piece of rubber under the hood. I'm still rolling on 9yo tires which is a little scary in the rain, but I can't blame that on Porsche.

I'm also still not sure I'm seeing boost as early or hard as I should be, but I don't have a ton of turbo experience and haven't driven another 951 to compare. With my novice footwork, I'm pretty sure I'd be faster in an S2, but the turbo is definitely fun.

I really wish theyd make those with a drop top.

Did you guys figure out which of these Hertz Rental throwbacks is better?

Only someone that drives a Porsche would be happy after dumping a couple of grand into a car after 6 months of ownership.
That said, everybody has their own taste.

Rock a hybrid? Way better than the duel fuel Cavaliers that they replaced at work.

Like a BOSS 302 LS? Who here has one? *crickets*

But seriously, if a BARFer does happen to buy one he should do a demo day for us BARFers! We'll behave, honestly. :laughing

Like I said...almost ordered it. But it costs so close to the Shelby, I decided it wasn't worth it. It'd be like getting a new Z06 with the "ultimate performance package" option which gives you everything the ZR1 has except the engine. Which makes it the best track Corvette you can buy, but it pushes the cost so high you might as well just buy the top of the range ZR1 anyways.
