Chromebook or Windows?

That's a trip worthy gem. That's a "sucking sound moment" as it audibly takes your breath away when it shows up and fills you large monitor.

Great shot.

I'm a 40+ year programmer, I love programming. I HATE computers. Just loathe having to dig out some check box of whatever the heck it is. But I've been mostly content with my Macs for some years now.

I'll never be annoyed enough with windows to buy any apple product :laughing

Checking every login for something you only use occasionally is a good idea. :thumbup

For most Ipads you can get a case that does the nifty stand thing that the Surface does, though usually, not as well.

I have:
work laptop, Dell XPS.
Home laptop, Asus ROG Zephyrus.
HTPC (currently broken because I made the mistake of trusting Asrock) that I built.
Gaming Desktop I also built which TBH is really old at this point.
Travel toy, Ipad Air (yea, apple, but the battery life is amazing and it travels well.)

I have an XPS 13 with that’s at least a few years old. Nice laptop other than the SD slot isn’t deep enough and half the card pokes out instead of sitting flush. Really annoying and prevents leaving a card in there when carrying or for extra memory.

:twofinger damn you.

So I kept using my Chromebook until it took a shit. Then I bought a new one. It also took a shit. SO I returned it to Costco and vowed to never buy a computer again. Then my GF bought me another Chromebook, which was FINE, I guess.

Then I went to Africa and had to process 5000 photos and realized the Chromebook just couldn't do that. At all. So my needs kind of changed. While I originally just wanted something to surf the net and argue with barfers, now I actually needed a computer.

So I, um, er, bought a fucking Mac. If there is one thing I hate more than Macs, it's Windows-based computers. Anyways, I was all set to buy a MacBook Air, but then Jordan mentioned the Mac mini. So I bought one of those and went big, getting the Pro version etc. I honestly was tired of slow, cheap computers. I get too angry too fast for that BS.

For most of my needs it's wayyyyy overkill. But for the photo stuff, it worked out great. Just this photo right here from my trip made it worth the money and the crow I'm currently eating as I type this.

For photo work, even the M1 Macbook Air would do fine.

But going with a Pro, yeah, overkill for your current needs. But, you'll be good for the next like 7-10 years. :thumbup
