Cone Practice, Sunday, June 8

Rode out there in a leisurely fashion today just to get familiar with the routes on my bike. Should be no problem for me to get there next week, :D

(masameet, in case you're interested, I took San Pablo Rd --> Cummings Skyway --> Franklin Canyon --> Martinez & after stopping by the Farmer's Market & Starbucks on Main St. for a little break, took 4 --> 80 back home. :ride )

I'd love to go for breakfast at 9--I'm going to need a break in between getting to Martinez & doing the parking lot practice.... :)

I feel like such an idiot. I was so excited about this that I failed to notice the date on the title says JUNE 8. So yea, I rode all the way up there and waited about a half hour to find no one coming. I thought I was in the wrong parking lot so I called up my brother and he read the title to me. I laughed at myself. Anyways, I was already there so I practiced figure 8's for about an hour. I can do now it within 2 parking spaces, but I'm still very inconsistent. When I left the parking lot, I had to do a u-turn and I didn't even use what I learned:(.

I'm looking forward to NEXT week, JUNE 8.:laughing

thats funny but sorry you wasted the gas.

trust me, masameet will get you doing those consistent in no time!

Do you have a diagram of the cone patterns you are using? I'd come out but I'm afraid the patterns would be too hard for me. :teeth

so where the heck IS Martinez :cry

I believe it will be the pattern for the u-turn (basically 3 parking spaces lined with cones) after that if everyone is confident more than likely set up the figure 8 or a few others masameet has in mind.

Depending on how things go we may set up of the pattern we did last time if everyone wants (Dont know the name of it) or the eliminator. the other one lets you get a little speed and then 2 tight left turns straight another 2 tight lefts quick switchback circle back through the switchback tight right and out.

It allows for everyone to line up and just keep going through the pattern as soon as the next is done. was really fun last time :thumbup

That's awesome, aperture8! :thumbup

We're heading to the Copper Skillet, which is at 811 Ferry St. (cross-street is Ward St.). So it's just "down the street" :laughing from the parking lot. Some folks on Yelp don't like it. I think it's just fine for pancakes, bacon/sausages, eggs & coffee.

Everybody, remember to bring bottled water. If you can partially freeze it, you'll be a happy camper, as there's no shade cover where we'll be practicing.

No worries, I never see riding as a waste of gas. Instead I look at it as experience on the road.

Hearing this makes me pretty optimistic. But looking at those drills you posted...kinda intimidating:laughing.

I'll be there for breakfast. Are we meeting in the parking lot or at the breakfast place?

For breakfast @ 9 a.m. -- Copper Skillet

For cone practice @ 10 a.m. for stoneed_11 (and whoever wants to help Ryan set up the complex patterns) -- marina parking lot

For cone practice @ 11 a.m. -- marina parking lot

Ryan, JPM is kidding. I think he is anyway.

If he isn't, :laughing Whoa! Is he in for some ribbing. :laughing

i figured he was kidding but hey if he wanted to come at least he knows were arent doing strickly basic patterns, and even the more "advanced" riders could allways benifit from some brushing up :thumbup

Cool!

Yah, I think that JPM is kidding, too. :rolleyes:laughing LOL

Thanks for the H20 reminder, :thumbup

I suggest everyone bring sunscreen or some form of sun protection just in case. i got a nice little sunburn last time :thumbup

Copper Skillet FTW. I'll be there for some food. Whats the difference between the one at 10 and 11?

Is the hour from 10 to 11 more complex?
