conti road attack 2

Matt try going down a pound or two in the rear.
The tires only slid when i wanted them to and in the rain towards the end of their life they would slide when i didn't want them to.

My final thoughts on the tires is that they are pretty good unless you ride like a madman everywhere. I won't be buying them again but would still recommend the tire to certain people.

Thanks, I'm at 32/33 cold today and getting ready to go out.

I'm a fairly tame rider.

How much do you weigh and how much does your bike weight?

I'm a fat ba$tard, about 260 plus ATGATT, 6'04".

Bike is abt 475 plus fuel. Maybe a little less now with the LV pipes on.

Mototire guy set them at 34/37 when he slapped them on a week or so ago, I had no experience to offer on preference.

That pressure did not work out good, I went up and that was odd no good either - BUT tires are very quiet.

Yesterday I had pressures down around 28/30 and front was heavy steering, right away knew it was no good for front.

Seemed OK today at 32/33. Went Keller to Tunnel on Skyline did not break the rear this time but I have been a bit over cautious - no where near scraping anything.

Might just be this tire shape down not work on this bike. I plan on switching the rear to a Battle Wing pretty quick.

Have to update and say that at least for a Caponord they are complete rubbish. Perhaps the shape, perhaps the Capo wheelbase is to long, dunno, they are unsafe except in a straight line or slow handling. The last miles I will do is taking the bike to Robbie to swap them out with the Battle Wings I just ordered from Jake whatever the place is..

Sucks to drop 450 bucks on a pair of shoes and install to just toss them away, but I would rather have the 7 year old trail wings back than to ride on these tires.

Cheers,

Matt

450 bux?
I think I paid closer to 300 for my set. I enjoyed my set in the dry and was able to get a full lean out of them. Kind of odd to hearing your feedback

190/rear, 140/front plus 84 install and disposal, so really 414 plus a bridge toll.

Hey no reason to suffer through the life of the tire. Really only the rear is an issue, but I'll replace them both. Thanks for you input to this issue, would rather had them work out, that's for sure, but live and learn.

I figure they are not meant for the Capo wheelbase, either that or a got a bad tire. Easy enough to fix.

Hey do me a favor. Pm me. I have greg Reich's contact info. He is the head of customer relations for continental USA. Couldn't hurt to talk to him.

One of the few road tires that fit on a big GS. Been to the track, local twisties, and on a Canadian tour right now. They've been fantastic so far on the tarmac.

no one's mentioning the biggest benefit of the Road Attack? they last FOREVER! i got over 5k miles out of a new rear and 3.5k out of a used front.

money's tight these days, i'll sacrifice a little performance for longevity (especially since i'm not really pushing my bike particularly hard anyway). and these tires LAST (at least my o.g. Road Attacks did). plus of course the previously mentioned great performance in the wet.

i'm running a mismatched set of tires right now: Pirelli Diablo Strada in the front, Dunlop D220 (i know, can't wait to replace that one) in the rear. i thought i wouldn't care that much since i mostly commute/run errands on my bike with only occasional twisties riding, but i actually do miss the matched Road Attacks i was running. :cry

Well I hear you guys, the Capo crowd seems to like the original RAs. I think I am the first to use the RA2's on a Capo.

As far as longevity I will never find out.

- Before I forget KUDOS to R3DS!X for staring the thread.

Just to update - Conti did call me, asked for photos and to save the tires when I get them changed out.
