Cyberpunk 2077

The excuse I hear is that COVID impacted their ability to test it widely on last Gen platforms. Don’t think I’ll buy that since other devs have beta tested products just fine remotely.

I've no doubt that covid impacted the development of the game in a significant way, but I'm not sure the game ever should have been released on the last gen platforms.

That said, the fact that it was intended for release on the last gen platforms is likely the only reason the game exists. That install base landed them a lot of investment dollars. I think they make a big gamble and fucked up. They made an amazing game for PC and current gen, but last gen owners have a right to be angry.

If I recall correctly there was a saga of delays BEFORE COVID. I think they project was too ambitious and they pit off more than they could chew.

I reckon I will still buy in, because I very much want to support the genre. I was hoping for a smashing success that would inspire Cyberpunk movies, but I guess I'll just have to go watch Johnny Mnemonic again.

I don't recall, are you familiar with this particular property? I know you're well versed and in general a fan of cyberpunk media, but the TTRPG, while having a generic name, is a very specific tone and message presented.

One of my favorite shots from the game. The Mox are seriously the best gang.

Ok here's another one

Yes, I was always more of a fan of the Shadowrun side than 2020, but yeah, I liked it. It never struck me as particularly outside of the Bladerunner message though. :dunno

Game Q. I can’t seem to find a way to sell cyberware? As I’m upgrading or finding better implants I cannot figure out a way to sell the old gear to ripperdocs?

I don't think you can sell back old cyberware. If you're looking for ways to get cash, I think the best way these days is to craft guns and sell them. It's a little grindy, but it works.

There used to be exploits for unlimited money but they've been patched out.

Guns look like they take a lot of components though? Is that profitable?

I’ve been holding off on crafting guns because I wanted to hang on those components to craft/upgrade the Iconics.

I think crafting & selling the Ashura, which is the legendary smart sniper rifle is the sweet spot for crafting profitability.

That said, the only reason you should ever be doing anything really grindy for money is if you want the achievement for buying all the cars. Otherwise just do side gigs and scanner hustles if you need to make some money to get some legendary cyberware. you'll be rolling in money otherwise.

Did I mention how gorgeous this game is?

I'm now 40 hours in and aside from the graphical glitch I mentioned earlier I still have had no other issues on Series X. Can't vouch for other machines.

If you can, play it on PC. There's still a little bit of jank, but if you've suffered a Skyrim or a Fallout game, you've dealt with worse.

It's the prettiest game I've ever seen. Amazing story, great characters, ties in with the lore of the TTRPG in amazing ways. I love the spit out of this game.

No way this is such a unfinished game, hard pass

For instance when your being chased by popo, the games programming automatically stops the threat level after you hit a certain distance from Leo.

That distance is like 1 block or was, it was so ez to just speed down the street and avoid Leo chases it was :laughing how cheesy and simple the programming was. The popo your avoiding never looses visual eyesight of you but after passing 1 block automatically gives up the chase.

It's just a wannabe GTA set in the future with like 1/10 of the depth/programming/code vs a real rockstar title

And I'm not saying the GTA by rockstar were great, they had issues but not nearly as poorly put together as cybertrash

So, I never understood this criticism at all. The GTA chips behave inn exactly the same manner: you stay outside the search radius fire a long enough time, the cops call off the search. Every game works this way for the most part. Dinner games like watch dogs or assassin's Creed made your do a hiding mechanic.

But the thing is: running from cops is almost never ever ever fun. It's frustrating and a waste of time. Sometimes in any one of those games I'll dip in because I have an hour of free time, accidentally give an NPC the stinkeye and spend ten minutes running from the cops. What a fucking waste of my time.

I'm glad they made it easy to escape the cops in this game. Running from cops isn't fun.

I was going to say the same thing. Pretty much all of them work this way.

The game had a rough launch and they really left PS4 players twisting in the wind. After that, people just went looking for reasons to be mad at the game. Stuff like this, or being mad because shooting at the water didn't make splashes in the water.
