Dark visors and riding at night

I like the pinlocks for the condensation eradication, but no thanks on changing them just for the color scheme. Internal sunshield FTMFW. :thumbup

I have never managed to get pinlock to fit. The damn pinlock never seems to match the size of the visor pins. I've given up.

I run a dark tinted visor all the time. Ride morning, day, and night. Officers cannot see my eyes during the day under the visor, have no idea why they would need to pull me over at night just for the visor infraction. It's like a DUI checkpoint, if I maintain control of the bike - there's prob. little worry I am driving over the min.

I do keep my visor clean most of the time, some people can manage, others cannot. Just a matter of which ear plugs are the best - everyone is different.

Have been caught with my dark smoke visor at night before, and wasn't too bad. But then I have excellent night vision and am very light sensitive. Still, vision at night is generally better with my clear visor so I just opt for sunglasses

I have one of those adventure or whatever helmets with flip down visor. Helmet is on a heavy side, but I don't have to switch visors around.

Get an old-school OGK helmet. Easiest shield change by far.

I didn't say changing the shield was difficult, just annoying. Put down helmet, pop off old shield, open box, take out new one put in old one put it on...

PLus sometimes I leave when it's dark and the sun rises during the ride and I dont' want to pull off the highway to swap visors.

Just put a strip or two of electrical tape on the top portion of your visor to keep the sun out of your eyes.

I hate riding at night with a tinted visor so I always used to carry an the other lense in my back pack inside the helmet bag.

Now I've got a Shoei GT-Air, works great similar to above except the tinted shield is inside and retractable.

I run a mirror tint at night. Honestly, if you dont ride with one at night, it may bother you. But after a few times you adjust easily. Just have to keep it clean. A dirty tinted visor at night is the worst. I used to swap visors and all that other shit people say, but i just cant be bothered anymore. Been using a mirror tint for a good 5 years at night now with no issue.

Not a fan of dark visors at night. Not because it's illegal, but because I need to see. I'm a fan of the Pinlock system. Lots of flexibility, easy fast to change visors, and don't take up much room.

I bought one at Road Rider a week ago and returned it while I was still there. Why? Because it doesnt cover the entire area of the faceshield opening. The one you have pictured is for an HJC HJ-09 faceshield which i have. There is maybe a half an inch gap and usually the sun likes to peak out in that area rendering the PINLOCK useless. I highly do not recommend this pinlock. Others may vary

The problem with tint at night is that, though you may think you can see fine, there are hazards hiding in the shadows that are difficult to see with a clear visor. Tint obscures them totally.

Cycle Gear sells a shield sleeve. It has a strap so you can wear it around your waist if you so desire.
I've always worn sunglasses in my helmet, and remove them at night.
Right now, my Bell helmet has a transition face shield on it. I love the versatility, although it never gets as dark as an Arai dark tinted shield.
In other news, the Bell is noisier than my old Bilt helmet- it's called a BELL VORTEX for a reason.
I'm thinking a Shoei GT Air is on my Christmas list.

Tinted visors on bay area roads are mostly easy, however get in an area where there are no lights, and you'll quickly find out tinted visors are not for nighttime.
