work has thrown a wrench into the weekend plans, so i'm looking for ideas for a day trip for saturday. i've got no problem driving for a couple hours, so we have a nice sized area to choose from.
money is tight, so cheap (or free) is best.
i'm toying with the idea of driving (or riding) somewhere friday night, and spending the night to maximize saturday's fun.

suggestions?

Lost coast.

picnic in the mountains :)

Yesterday I went to half moon bay then up 1 to Santa Cruz stopping by the little beaches and tide pools on the way. Finished in Santa Cruz at Bocci's cellar with an awesome live band. Good day, I recommend it.

live in pittsburg. and norcal, i'm not so sure shooting up is a good idea.
it'll violate my parole and all that. :laughing

Lost coast.

Great idea, but...5 hours =/= 2 hours.
I wouldn't take that drive unless I was spending the entire weekend there.

How about going south along the coast? Park and sleep near the beach, wake up and walk the shore playing with starfish, shells, etc. Get a breadbowl of clam chowder, soak up some sun, and go home happy.

:laughing you know what I meant...

and yeah the VTR has the triangular barrel, I posted a pic of it on the last or 2nd to last page of the "new shit you bought" thread.

oh, and btw, this is a two-up day trip. so 36 on the drz is out. and i might be driving, cause she is somewhat new to moto's, and a long ride somewhere, with a long ride back, may detract from the enjoyment of the day.
depends on where we're headed as to what we'll be piloting.

so badass they named it after me

Spend the night near Santa Rosa or Petaluma. In the morning, make your way to the coast via scenic back roads (I can make you a route). Work your way down the coast until you're ready to head home, then cut your way over to the 101 corridor at any of a number of spots, and take 37, 80 and 4 to get back home.
