Digital SLR / DSLR Camera Question / DSLR Thread 2

+1.

There really aren't any lemons out there, especially if you stick with Canon/Nikon.

Might get more bang for buck with Sony, but then you have fewer lenses, less general availability.

You might just want to up your price point a little get something new with a warranty etc. - you can get an awful lot of camera for ~$500 these days.

The Canon T3 w/ lens kit is $449 now. I got it back in January for $434 and it's normally $500 on Amazon. Works great for pics of my kids.

Thanks for the advice. I'll hold off until Black Friday, but I really didn't want to spend more than $300, I bumped it to $350 since it looks like most of the used DSLRs are $300-$350 with a lens.

brand new T3 is $405 today on Amazon. Free 16GB memory card and a bag too.

I was at San Jose Camera today. Not sure on the price of the T3, but they are doing a tax free sale Friday and Saturday. I know Canon is doing some rebates right now too.

I posted up on BARF and had a couple offers in less then a day. Wound up picking up mine for less then 3.

So, after much searching, reading, researching and rereading, I think I'm about to commit to a better zoom lens... This zoom lens to be exact. Guud reviews, guud price, guud upgrade...

And a better flash. Might as well commit big if I'm going to commit at all.

i have that 70-300 and in the daylight its a really great lens but after a couple years of shooting i started to learn its limitations so i finally upgraded to a 70-200 f2.8. id definitely recommend it for an inexpensive zoom though. for the flash id go a little better because there isnt a whole of control available with it. the sb-600 is a good one but youll have to find it used, then theres the sb-700 which is the sb-600s successor

Yeah, i really just want it for daytime shooting at racetracks and natural type shots.

Need something better then the kit lens I got that's for sure

Picked up a Nikon L810. Is Class 10 16G card fast enough to any motion pics?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "fast enough to any motion pics?", but yea, it should work just fine for any photo or video. The camera buffer will be the holdup for bursts more than the card will be.

I should have been more specific. The card I had would not load the pics when you would pan and keep shooting. Upgraded card and it works fine now.

New lens arrived today!!!

Can't wait for racing season!!!

So...thoughts on pricing? Any BARFers interested in buying? Make me an offer here. May be able to throw in some other accessories, would have to dig through and see what else I have.

Check FM forums (http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/board/10)... I buy/sell tons of gear on there, and use it as a general pricing guide. Search around there to get a better idea of actual selling prices. This is a bad time of year to sell used photo gear. The season picks up around April/May.
