DIRTY BARF Trip; Stony? Dec 6th-8th?

Ugh. The 300 is still in need of cylinder repair (I haven't sent it in yet), and the suspension for my 250 was supposed to have been done weeks ago. Just spoke with Dave Johnson at SMART Performance yet again this afternoon, and he gave me yet more excuses as to why they aren't ready yet. He promised to have them done on Wed, so I hope that this time he actually comes through. I gave him the forks and shock near the end of October. Ugh....

Now the question is whether or not I still attend if I don't get my bike back together in time, and just turn it into a camping/endurance drinking weekend instead....

250+forks from 300=profit!

Just go, whether you ride or not. You can always share my 300.

If the 300 were a year newer I would be in good shape, as almost everything would be swappable. Not the case, though. I do, however, think that the cylinder could be swapped. I have actually considered throwing my 250 top end (and carb) on the 300. The 300 has some clunkiness in the forks that I want to sort out before I ride it much more, though. As such, I am completely at the mercy of Dave Johnson. With any luck, he will come through and I'll have my bits on Wed.

I think I will likely come up regardless, but there's no need for you to share you bike. The offer is VERY kind, though. :)

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed that your bike is ready in time. But even if it isn't, I still hope to see you. :thumbup

I gotta say, my experience with Smart Performance was less than satisfactory.
It was a few years ago, but after the second revalve that did not work on my wr, he stopped returning my calls and emails.

Factory Connection nailed it first go- it was like a magic carpet ride!

If he comes through and it's ready on Wed (the latest promised date), and if it works well, then it will be fine. If it doesn't arrive and/or is garbage, then I will be SERIOUSLY pissed-off. Once it is all sorted-out, I will have to look at things closely to see if I want to really put him on blast, or just let it slide and simply go somewhere else next time. Sucks, though.... :thumbdown

about 27 people still hanging on strong. 4 days everyone :) ill be up there friday morning early or late thursday night to unlock the gate. technically we cant be in until 2pm on friday but i highly doubt they will make a big stink. looks like rain tomorrow and wed up there so hopefully it will stay damp for the weekend.

She is 6, still on training wheels. Yeah, I was hoping that there would be others with wifes/girlfriends or female barfers that like to ride so my wife could ride too.

I'll be staging in Davis Flat at the end with the SBR folks and would love to meet/ride with your wife! My friend Oona is also coming and she's a newer rider. What do you drive?

BTW- where is Davis Flat in reference to the camp that y'all reserved? I def want to come by and say hello to my fellow dirty BARFers!

i think its the first campground on the right before davis flat.

I have an extra 4 people coming and a extra truck and trailer too.
Getting new tires today, ready to ride and drink beer!

Hey Shaun, if you are rolling out from Pacifica, would you consider carpooling? I would happily pay for a good chunk of the gas, etc. I am not sure yet if I have a bike to bring, but if I do, would there be room? I don't mind driving solo, but if the carpool works, it might be fun. :thumbup

Holy crap its almost here?

:laughing That's what I said!

Also, folks might want to stop at the ranger station in Stonyford (on the right as you make the left turn onto Fouts Springs Rd) and pick up a map on the way in. They will usually put maps in the box on their porch for pick-up during non-business hours :thumbup
