Do you wear a watch?

I have a Pebble Steel now and debating Apple Watch and upcoming Pebble Time Steel. I like convenience of a smart watch as I'm constantly getting emails, calls and texts from my suppliers.

I'm surprised nobody else here on teh barf has gone for the Apple Watch. Smartwatches offer a major benefit specifically for a rider...the ability to quickly see a text/email with a gloved hand. Otherwise, on a bike you'd have to stop and take of the gloves, fish the phone out of the pocket...just to see that one of your dickhead friends texted "lol" to you. But you still wanna check right away just in case it's something more serious.

I'm sure there's plenty of iPhone users here, so it's not like there's no customer base.

I always wear a watch since I was 13yo or so. Feel naked without it.

My EDW watch is in the shop after dropping it on tile and jumping the hands. I feel super naked without it :(

I have a Bulova that I could wear, but I generally just save that for nicer occasions.

I guess I will say it... your Bulova is for nicer occasions? What is your EDW, a casio? :twofinger

FU man half the watches in this thread cost more than what I paid for my car or bike lol

My daily watch is a Tissot. The Bulova was a gift and has those diamond accents and I feel a bit silly wearing it to work.

I'm more than happy with my pedestrian Tissot. It's a good quality watch that I'm not afraid to wear and accumulate signs of use.

Maybe one day I'll be in a position where I can drop a mortgage down payment's worth on a watch.

.

Just breakin your balls man. I didn't own an expensive watch until like 5 months ago, and I bought it used from Nucking Futz! :laughing

However, since I am pretty much done with bikes and have all the golf and hockey shit I could ever need, I am looking in to watches now. This is what my life has become. :facepalm

With that said, currently in love with the Zenith Open Chrono's. This is the exact model I want, but it is out of stock. Buying used seems to be the way to go, but then it's difficult to find what you want. And for that much $$$, I would prefer to buy the one I want and not settle for the version with roman numerals..

Wish I felt more comfortable buying used. Granted, there aren't a lot of fake Zenith's on the market, especially this design (I looked). This deal on CL looks decent. Plus no tax.

Well, and guns. We both have that issue too...

Funny, my mother in law asked me what I wanted for my birthday. I told her "a Zenith El Primero Chronomaster". Seemed reasonable, right? She said that might be a bit out of her budget, I told her, well I don't really need or even want anything. Maybe an 18-300mm camera lens? That was $1000 too. Fucking first world problems I tell ya..

It's bad, because anything under $250, I just buy. Probably why I never have any money.

That silver Zenith looks good... I don't know if there are Zenith fakes on the market either; but probably out there somewhere.

Interesting point about the bikes.. never thought that right after I sell my bike I should buy, say an upscale Swiss Watch.. price will be equal :laughing Kinda sad.

Or I could just go to the darned dentist twice :mad with them bike money.

So I did. LOL (It will be delivered tomorrow).

i've never been able to bring myself to buying a nice watch on ebay, as the fakes are *so* good. have you had it authenticated?

i love my speedmaster. exhibition case or gtfo. there's something about the irony of a several thousand dollar timepiece that's more or less always wrong since it's manual wind, which i always forget to do.

beautiful thing tho. recent article [that polled like 15k women] in GQ said the 1 accessory that women notice most often is your watch.

as soon as i find a good deal on a steel bracelet Pan....

My next blingy item will be an engagement ring.

I wonder if she'll go for me getting a watch instead. I know of lots of people who have accidentally thrown their wedding rings away in my field of work. Could be the only way I can justify a 4-figure watch within this decade...
