Do you wear a watch?

Saved a customer about $250K last month by finding a bunch of things wrong with a car he was going to buy. This was his "thank you" gift!

That's awesome Bill, you wear the Polar dial well. I wear a black-face daily.

The Explorer II can take a hell of a beating, case inside a case.

Well damn!

A couple years ago I saved some guy about $60k on some basket case NSX that he brought in for a PPI.

Not even a box of donuts.

Forgive my noobish ways here gentlemen. What is that orange hand for on those Explorers you're wearing? I know it's not a GMT hand, and I don't think it's a chrono hand either.

It's a 24-hour hand. It goes around the face once a day. This way, if you are in an area where the sun doesn't set, you can tell if it is AM or PM.

this thread is a constant reminder of how poor I am :laughing

Thanks guys!

Beau, I'm not in love with it yet. I miss my DD Submariner with the rotating bezel.

Rob, ya gotta engage with the customers more. "I noticed you're eating donuts. I like donuts as well." lol I doubt he's done with me yet. I imagine it was a buttering me up gift. He put me on a red-eye flight to NYC last weekend. "Now that you have the Explorer, you can keep track of two time zones"

And yes, its original purpose was for people who didn't see the sun rise or set IE above or below certain latitudes, hence the Explorer II moniker. The original explorer was the role that went to the top of the world with Sir Hilary Edmund.

A new watch would be nice.

Alas, one month after paying for my wedding, today I'm paying the contractor to completely replace my fried HVAC unit. The funny part is that it wouldn't even pay for some of these watches. But I guess there is some value in not dying in the Central Valley heat.

I too would love a $1,000,000 watch...but then I'd have to sell it, spend half on my house and pocket the rest.

Nah. It ain't that. I gladhand all the NSX (old and new) customers at my store. Some of them even have my personal phone number. I think most of our customers see the $200+/hr labor rate and figure "oh you guys get your pound of flesh and then some." (Heard a customer once actually say that when they were paying the bill)

In that particular case, the guy doing the PPI was just a cheap fucker. Thought he'd be able to buy one for $20k under average market value and nothing would be wrong with it.

Yeah I get a few of those too, but I weed 'em out as much as possible. It costs this much $$$ to ride this ride. Otherwise they should look for something else.

Reminds me of a time I told a guy with an Audi A8 that I found $15K worth the things he needed on the car. "But i didn't even pay that much for the whole car!?" Guess why buddy.

Yeah as I get older I value the one Omega I was lucky enough to get for $800 Canadian even more...the only fancy watch I can actually afford.

This was delivered yesterday, I told the mrs it's my promotion watch :). Same movement as my SARX017.

Seiko's SDGM003 Brightz. They stopped production last year, so I was fortunate to find a reasonably priced one over in Japan.

Ya’ll seen the new movado with smart watch functionality? My brother in law got one from his lady for his bday and I was admiring how simple it looked, assumed it was a movado but it didn’t have that cheesy movado look. It was really classy for a daily driver.

And yeah, no regrets on my Omega planet ocean Nucking Futs flipped me from his shop. I wear it nearly every day and it is awesome!

Hopefully work goes well this year and I’m going for that Vacheron patrimony.
