Does Money Make You Mean?

I am committed to making a large sum of money and using it to live comfortably.

I will also reward those around me who I love.

Am I evil?

Well I don't believe in the concept of evil so no, but I do believe commitment to making large sums of money leads one down a sketchy moral pst

Your particular medical issues cause a different set of thoughts as it requires a large sum of money on our society to address long term medical complications

I've know some really neat rich folk, and some super assholes. Generally speaking the asshole wins out. It's just how it works. Super rich are comfortable around super rich. How may people hang out with street people? Not many.

We all end up in the ground.

I've noticed the same things about people who drive expensive cars. They're assholes, especially Tesla drivers. When merging onto the freeway, they'll always want to squeeze in at the last minute despite plenty of room behind me. They want every last bit they can get.

When I see a Model S try to merge in, I instigate 'em and leave enough space so they think they can get in.... then I squirt ahead and cut off that douchebag. But I'm only able to cut 'em off about 1/2 the time because their massive torque gets 'em in place real quick. Money buys 'em lots of torque.

Those motherfuckers are quite determined to get their spot. I'd say more so than even Mercedes and BMW drivers. I believe Tesla has overtaken BMW & Mercedes as the king of douche cars.

Yeah there is a douche in a car in that scenario.

Rarely is it so obvious that almost no one actually reads the article.

There have been so many studies on this. And it's replicated again and again that money comes before mean.

I don't know about money but I know having an office on Skid Row and having to run the gauntlet from Civic Center to Folsom every morning down 8th Street has made me mean.

Yah and I've also seen chumps in jalopies fail to yield at 4 way stops when I'm driving down the Mission. People in the bay area are just bad drivers period.

While I am very much middle class... what I will say is that the behaviors that I am rewarded for professionally contributes towards me being classified as a [enter colorful adjective here] from an everyday, social perspective.

I'd kinda like to know what amount of money makes a person rich vs. poor. I've seen some national average numbers recently and they don't make sense. At lease when applied to the Bay Area labor market. The cost of living here is enormous. A wage that would allow a person to enjoy a middle class living here would be considered wealthy in other parts of the country.

As far as money making people mean... I don't buy it. Mean people exist in all economic brackets. I suppose a mean person could be happy, but I kinda doubt that too. To me, happiness is a choice. And most happy people I've come across spread that happiness. Others, they wake up pissed off, argry, confrontational, intollerant; and that's what they give back to the world every day. : dunno

I disagree. Having a large sum of money requires a willful ignorance on the nature of how that money was gotten.

The Bay Area is not a good indicator of most folks behavior that have "money". Ask yourself: do they work for someone else and have payments on a bunch of stuff? If so, they are not "rich".
I work with some extremely wealthy farmers who can afford to live in Atherton or anywhere they please. And afford doesn't mean getting a house and having a mortgage, buying for cash. Get out of the city and the need to have a new $100,000 car or having all the newest gadgets hanging off your body is just not seen as important. Having a reliable newer diesel truck to pull your equipment trailer or fishing boat is the shiznit.

Looking at someone who has a new expensive car as being wealthy is a poor study - I'm sure many of those folks have a car payment, house payment and more than likely they would be in financial trouble in a few months if they lost their job.
In my experience, the people who's only motivation is to make a bunch of money just to have the money tend to be the dickbutt assholes vs. the ones who enjoy what they are doing and because of this, do a good job and become wealthy as a result of this, generally are pleasant people.

Dear barf,

How do I get poor people to stop parking their cars on my street? Granted the park across from me is open to the public but I suspect some of these 'people' are from lesser than cities. I had my house keeper call the city but they just gave her the run around. After a hard day of ripping off middle class people so I can bulk up my portfolio the last thing I want to see is some used Kia or Toyota near my house (unless they belong to hired help)

Thanks!

Santa Clara County has highest median household income in nation, but wealth gap widens

I'm not talking about people who have shiny things to appear rich .

I work in custom construction and deal with wealthy people, extremely wealthy people, as a regular part of my job.
