I was riding my DR 350 home around 4pm. I had the green light at an uncontrolled intersection and just as I entered , some lady decided to turn left....directly into me...no signal, no brakes, nada!!!! Well she scored a direct hit, which totalled the bike of course and threw me 20 feet over her car and into the gutter. I ended up with a fractured left hip, broken femur, fractured left ankle, and the pad on left heel was torn almost completely off, oh fractured right wrist as well. Basically she ****ed me up!!! Good news is absolutely no road rash. If it wasn't for Aerostich RC suit I know I would have lost my leg.

So three surgeries and four weeks in the hospital later I'm back home. My next few months will be spent doing physical therepy and trying to get back to normal.

One other positive , the driver directly behind me caught the entire incident on a Hi-Def dash camera...

Glad you didn't get any road rash, I guess. That looked pretty rough. Having that caught on video is the highlight I would say.

:wow Chris.

Sorry to hear and see this. Pretty major injury list man.

Hope healing goes well and complete. Don't understand how they did not see you of course.

I have no idea how she didnt see me other then maybe she was on her phone. Im trying to stay positive but everything just hurts.

Sorry to hear that... four surgeries and all the broken bits I bet it hurts.

Hang tough. Every day will get better.

Well that sucks really bad!

Good that you're on the road to healing. Sorry it took so many surgeries and so long...

I hope you have hired an attorney.

I have a rule when it comes to riding motorcycles, If you get hit by someone else and you're hurt bad enough to go to the hospital you need to hire an attorney to make sure that everything is paid for properly and your compensated as much as possible.

OUCH! I hope your healing and recovery goes fast and easy. Good luck!

Agreed, and I have one of the top firms representing me. I was sooo fortunate that the driver behind me had his dash cam rolling .. thanks to it the at fault drivers insurance has agreed to max policy payout. It should be a pretty good payout but honestly I'd rather it never happened

Oof. Another SMIDSY. That's pretty rough brother, heal up quickly.

IMO not having the incident is always preferable to the monetary compensation.

Terrible.

Wishing you as speedy and full a recovery as possible.

That video saved you a lot of "yeah but" from the driver's insurance company which is a small blessing.

Dealing with insurance while traumatized I wouldn't wish on anyone.

The worst part about these things is, often the riders life is changed for years if not permanently. My friend hit a left turner and is still recovering, 5 years later, from a brain injury. Meanwhile the car owner goes out and buys a new car and can pretend nothing ever happened.

Mad

Sorry to hear, heal fully and quickly! what where you wearing on your feet?

That's good news. I always tell people who have crashed to be careful about what they say, as the insurance company will be looking for an out. Glad somebody had this on vid.

I use a GoPro on most rides for this reason.

This isn't the Crash Analysis forum, but I don't think there was anything you could have done here.

The driver saw the car, not you. You were never in the picture. A lot of times we rely on the car in front of us to run as a blocker. But in the case, that car completely absorbed the driver, and you weren't far enough back to be able to react in time (not saying you were following too close, following distance is not typically based upon getting creamed from the side, rather than the car in front of you suddenly seizing up).

I don't know if the "weave" would have helped you hear or not.

God Damn that woman did a serious number to you. Make sure you get the max of the max. I know what you mean by wishing the whole thing didnt happen. That's some serious injuries you have and I can only imagine what pain you must be in.
Head High Positive juju coming your way!

Chris did not look too close to the car ahead. I agree the driver looked right through him. A SMIDSY is always a worthy option.

Hearing the following driver exclaim "OH SHIT".. was likely what Chris said too.

Not following too close but, too far right in the lane to be seen behind the first car maybe.
