Ducati Desmosedici RR | Owner Interview Thunderhill Raceway

If I could afford the Ferrari I would buy it and 8-9+ cars and bikes as well, because if you have the money to buy a Ferrari outright you should have the money to buy a bunch of more toys as well :twofinger

lol indeed. Most people fail to realize this, the average American consumer saves up X amount of dollars to just afford a certain entry level car or a DP on a car, with zero to spare

But if you are buying a 70k bike or a 300k car, well those should just be drops in the bucket compared to your total net worth :ride

Am I the only one who has gotten tired of gabbing about how expensive a desmo is?

It's a beautiful bike. I'd like to see more of them out and about.

Yeah, and I don't know why it gets way more attention than the F4CC with its 120k msrp

He needs to pull the stock fairings and get some kind of shark skins setup going for it and put the hammer down.

Still mad props that he actually rides it.

you mean this one?

This is an amazing bike, sorry for the phone pic

When you date the prom queen, chances are you don't ride her like a whore.

I couldn't really track a Desmocidici RR unless I had money to burn. If I owned one, it would probably end up doing riding it down the streets, or running gentle track days.

what makes up for its 120k$ price tag.. single swided swing arm.. tons of carbon fiber?

for that money my god what i would buy instead of that 1 little motorcycle.
how much is a regular mvaugusta? like 15-25$K right

the "regular" version of this bike is 25K. But to each his own. If i was able to afford a 120k bike, I would buy it, and track the hell out of it. Cause at that point, I wouldn't be worrying about crashing it. And when I do crash it, I'll just buy Stoners 2007 Champ bike :cool

but man 120,000$ wheew.. if i was rich i'd rather buy a R1 and throw all kind of top parts and make it better

When your rich, you will not think that way, sorry. If you were rich and had $1 billion in the bank, you wouldn't think that way, but if you were rich and only had a measly $1 million in the bank, you may think that way. Its just the way the world works :twofinger

yea i guess..
but even if i was a billionare i would think twice instead of just cuttin the check to spend 1/10 of a million on a motorcycle.. i'd be a cheapskate baller HAHAHAHA

actually yes, the molds to make all those CF tid bits are $$$, and since they make so few of them, they just pass the cost on to the consumer. Not quite like your typical ebay CF supplier, who makes shitty rough molds and sells them by the boat load to ricers

A large injection mold setup can easily top 100k in tooling/fixtures

$1mil in the bank now is not rich maybe 100mil is rich. People now make $200k-$500k and it is common to make millions on your company stock. My customer's receptionist just bought a Porsche Cayman S. It is all about the right time and the right people.

+1 Agreed

But if you had $1 mil in the bank (and speaking about the topic at hand) an R1 with all the aftermarket things you can put on it, or a 120K bike? Thats the question at hand. And if you had a $1 mil in the bank, then the R1 may seem logical, but if you had $1 Bil, you wouldn't think twice about the 120k bike and you would buy them for all your friends :thumbup

Most of the people who buy a $120K bike do so for the sake of owning a $120K bike, rather than for the sake of riding something faster than a stock R1. It's a different mentality, and one that I can kind of understand. At least the guys who own F4CCs appreciate motorcycling, and the engineering of their bikes.

I ran into this a lot with Porsche Drivers. I used to own a beautiful Guards Red '86 944. Sometimes when I would compliment other Porsche drivers (who often had modern 911s) they would give me the "who the fuck are you?" look. I think that those people were in it for the status symbol, rather than the love of cars.
