Awesome! I have a small sleeping bag and tent that I've strapped on the back of the bike before.

There are alot of campgrounds along both the Trinity and the Klamath. Swimming is great in the rivers for sure, especially during the hot summer.

Camping

At my work we sell some pretty cool tents & sleeping bags from The North Face, Sierra Designs etc. Some of the gear packs really small. If you guys get the chance you should stop by our new Presidio Store, unfortunately I work out of the Mission Bay Location.

AND there are a million places that a person can just pull off the road, go down an access road and camp right on the river bar. No campsites, no camp hosts, no nothin' but you and the river.
It don't get any better than that :thumbup!!

I always wanted to do something like that. Just get away maybe for a night or two. What places can you suggest for starters?

I'm not sure about non-designated campsites, I'll leave that to Lonster, but that area is just crawling with actual designated campsites as well, many of them free or very cheap. A GREAT guide to campgrounds is:

Foghorn Outdoors: California Camping: The Complete Guide to More Than 1,500 Campgrounds
by Tom Stienstra

That book rocks!

As far as non-designated camp sites, you just have to get out on the road and do some riding/driving around and explore the area. The road along the Trinity river is quite long. There are MANY free and inexpensive camp areas all along 299 but alot of the more desirable ones are booked way in advance. Some of my favorites are in the "Gray Falls" and surrounding areas

There are also many great camping areas around Trinity Lake (HWY 3) and Ruth Lake (off HWY 36).
Search the web and Pashnit and have a great time!

The rivers are a little high for going down and camping on the banks although there may be places. We saw tons of campgrounds though on 96 and 299.

Tim,

Great pics. Those roads look awsome! Was there like alomost no traffic?

Hello oh broken one! LOL (sorry). Mark, I have never ridden with so little traffic. It was amazing. You HAVE to go up there (when you heal up).

Took my time and went through the pics again... Re-read Pashnit's description of 36 as well. I wanna go now!:cry
